atadwe soaked in Dube

Pal my pal,

today, Christians are marking x'mas and i'm awake and soaked in ever-living streams of beats and rhythms of Lucky Dube's songs while chewing and savouring the milk of 'fio' (Ewe language) or 'atadwe' (Akan language) or tiger-nuts (English language).

and it comes still to mind how so life has many dimensions...!

cheers!!!

Akuffo Addo and the NPP

pal...pal,

funny things happen everyday!

the self-so-called stalwarts of democracy of our country Ghana, the NPP, have just obtained or found or taken or norminated or acclaimed or chosen or whatever it is that they have done, to have Nana Akuffo-Addo as their presidential candidate.

NPP CONGRESS ???
This is one party that has always made so much heap of noises about how so committed they are to the principles of the rule-of-law and champion internal democracy as a political party and are quick to claim the their opponents don't have same and so are not democratic.

Today this guys go to congress and whilst at it some suspicious folks amongst them get slapped by their own all in the quest to win power! Proceedings is halted as a result for well over an hour amidst CONFUSION but finally they they manage to proceed and ended up 'somehow-somehow' (to quote from the kuffused's speech) by how come 'i-don't-know-how-to-describe' to obtain a presidential candidate!

By their own constitution, according to my hearsay source, to be elected as a leader one must have polled '50% plus one valid vote of total votes' caste. That's a foolish way to define win but that's another topic. I mean 50% plus one? how do you count that? Now, Akuffo-Addo gets less than the required percentage and so does his closest rival Alan Kyeremanteng. So by their own noise of rule-of-law there should simply have been a run-off. Period. But interesting things happen pal, interesting things! Suddenly some machinations go on starting with some unnecessary handshaking (congratulations???) of Akuffo-Addo by Osarfo-Marfo (another contender) which forces the other 15 aspirants to 'roboticaly' do same WHILE VOTES COUNTING WAS STILL ON-GOING and we are finally told by himself that Alan Kyeremanteng has conceded defeat and so Akuffo-Addo is obtained...rightly so? End of Congress!

Meanwhile after the initial results were declared by the Electoral Commission, we were made to know that congress was to decide the way forward. Now you have some few people constituting themselves into 'the congress' 'by-whatever-capacities-they-placed-themselves-in-only-God-knows' inside congress to make a decision on behalf of everybody and the question is whether that decision was truly and properly made by congress? me think that the NPP must pray that none so aggrieved poor fellow would take them to court to battle legalities in the name of their own rule-of-law under the circumstances. A democratic party indeed!

In fact the question can be put straight as to how legitimate the position of Akuffo-Addo is as per the NPP's own constitution?

MATTERS ARISING:
A number of things are worthy of note as to Akuffo-Addo's lead in the race. One, there was some obvious perception that the president was unduly supporting Alan against the other candidates with state resources and this was drummed up against Alan very well. and with the some media men behind him Akuffo-Addo and his gang managed to blow-up a headline of a so-called "Party's Candidate vs the President's Candidate".

Two, the people of the Akyem and Kwahu decent (and all others) especially thought that the Ashantis have hijacked the party for so long and largely believed that this must be their time to take over the lead. They went all out.

Three, all the 17 aspirants spent huge huge huge sums of monies but Alan was well well well resourced and that made him look like the only one spending money and the Akuffo-Addo's gang capitalised on it to to put question marks on his name in the eye of the public.

SUPPORT:
After obtaining the leader the rest went ahead to pledge their support in order to see that the NPP is preserved in power (for the next fifty years according to Arthur Kennedy who got only one vote). interesting! but for me the most interesting and seemingly heartfelt statement came from Prof. Frimpong Boateng who did not sound sycophantic like some others and hoped that poverty and other enemies of man would be tackled. makes me wonder that this man rather belongs to the likes of the CPP. i have a lot of questions for him too though but well...

FOOT-SOLDIERS:
This is the tricky one pal. Some people are called foot-soldiers and therefore call themselves foot- soldiers. I keep hearing that party foot-soldiers are not happy because after toiling to bring the party into power they have been neglected. in other words do they mean that they are not given some share of the country's resources to feed on? if so that is foolish.

We must quickly move to let every Tom, Dick and Havi (small pig in Ewe language) know that a political party is distinct from a state and for that matter whether you lay down your life or part of your skin to bring a party into power, it is not guarantee for returns from the state through your party leaders. So let the foot-soldiers get it right and stop disturbing us all. And this goes to all the political parties. A government is there for all citizens and not just some foot-soldiers of a political party in power.

2008 ELECTIONS:
This is going to be very interesting i bet. And i thing the song for this coming election must be change like was sung by people like myself in the year 2000. Pal, We must have a change I believe and i will be telling you more about why i'm wanting so.

Nduom and our CPP

pal,

It is with so much mixed feelings i embark on this 'personal intercourse' with you!

Our country Ghana is at the cross-roads still...marking-time and waiting to see which direction to go!

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has been chosen by some folks to lead our (myself and the others who truly believe in the philosophy of the) GREAT CPP into the coming 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections. hmmmmmnnnn.... what could one say? A lot pal... a lot to be said....

Nduom has a lot of question marks on his head!!! Our great party first lead by the great charismatic and visionary Kwame Nkrumah is not one to be toyed with. Last time around it was Agudey who had the lead...and i wish not to overly state the point that though he has since helped the party financially his messages and general conduct were really nothing to go to bed with.

DANCING WITH PROPERTIES
This time we have Nduom and as to what he has to offer only time will tell... BUT pal, before he starts offering us anything at all, it's worth noting that this man has a lot of convincing to do... HE must convince the likes of me as to whether he really believes in the philosophy of the CPP after going to play with the kuffused's NPP and all their nonsense-touts of so called 'property owning democracy' as a miniter of state.

Nduom chose to dine with them somehow claiming he was there to help the government and ended up defending this spoilt kuffused and his NPP. The NPP claims to be offering Ghanaians 'property owning democracy' which they explain to mean under their leadership, one and anyone could own property freely...i wonder when it was ever criminal to do same...but that is what they claim and that alongside their capitalist inclination does not really go with the philosophy of the GREAT CPP. But the chosen Nduom decided to apply himself to defending the kuffused and his gang's policies even when (time) one could clearly tell there was nothing sensible to defend.

It was this same Nduom who in the 2004 elections chose to enter some very 'interesting agreement' with the kuffused whereby he campaigned for the kuffused to be elected president at the expense of Agudey his own party leader so that he Nduom got elected too into parliament easily as per the 'pre-arrangement' that ensured that the NPP did not field a parliamentary candidate to contest Nduom...-polictical smartness, some would say...but the question is at what expense??? AND WHAT IF AGUDEY DECIDES TOO NOW TO 'show Nduom' BY ALSO DECIDING TO CAMPAIGN AGAINST HIM ???

Now after doing all the dance with the NPP who's parentage ensured Nkrumah did not have concentration on his leadership and also went ahead to collaborate with the CIA to see to his overthrow, Nduom want's us all to believe he really stands for the Nkrumah family.... well.....

MONEY AND ACCUSATIONS
They say he has a lot of money! well, money is definitely useful. but be it true that he actually bought his way through to emerge leader, then we have a lot on our hands as Nkrumaist to deal with. That would be no different from what is happening to the NPP in the run-up to their congress where there seems to be so much throwing of money about in a bid to buy votes. THAT WOULD BE A CHEAP VICTORY INDEED FOR NDUOM!

Already Agudey is reported to be asking for some investigations into allegations that Nduom bought and paid for the victory! well well well... and Dr. Osarfo and Agudey were not there after the declaration to congratulate Nduom for his victory...well... pal, CAN Nduom unite the CPP front? we wait to see...

hold on, before the he got elected, the issue of some fraud we are told he was involved in came up again and it all looks so murky! Nduom must clear himself for sure! I believe CPP unlike the NPP cannot afford to have a presidential candidate who has fraud questions painted all over his name and face. Nduom must clear himself for sure!

days and seasons
Pal, to be frank with you I do not feel any confident with Nduom! I still just do not feel any confident about the coming days and seasons! I only have my prayers to pray!

Yewuoo ooo

pal dear mine,

we are dead! and so the slogan went...thanks to the CJA for staging what i call a straight to the point demonstration to send some signal into the heads and if of course the heads don't work then the feet of the people we have entrusted with the leadership of this nation.

and i just hope the kuffused one and his gang are listenning...what hope mennnnnnnnnnn!!!!! indeed...still......they are just so tuned-out of this world with bellies so full they don't feel the hunger we feel.

And as for the sycophantic Police man called Opare Addo, the least said about him the better. Thank God his head has been put to shame...and o...the guy has no shame! he's still trying hard to defend his nonsense! i don't know if he thinks he has control over the constitution of this nation of our death. Somebody tell him to stop the nonsense and just repent! The exercise of the people's right to demonstrate does not hinge on whether police man Opare Addo feels like going to toilet or not!

may we have and exhibit wisdom!!!

gHANAMAN Talk Is Not Cheap

Pal dear,

gHANAMAN talk is not cheap at all. There are so many people in the long history of man who have had their lives cut short for talking...yes true! Gelilio Gelilei nearly!

but that's not where my problem lies....my problem is with this kuffused one's appointed Minister and Deputy Ministers of Finance and their Special Assistants and the kuffused one himself........................... why? These folks with some 'default support' from their likes have come up with a 'beautiful' way to collect more taxes from the already overtaxed poor Ghanaian.

The say let all talkTime (phone airtime) be taxed and from there we shall have the money flowing in waa waaa waaaa! BUT WHAT FOOLISH THOUGHT INDEED! what foolish thought to even burden the choked poor man's brains with...to the extent that the little energy one gets from one ball of kenkey and the fried head of some poor fish is spent wondering what's up the brains of these almost callous folks who go to church praying and singing hallejuyah anyway every sunday after sunday after sunday....and oh some too call on Allah the most high still...five times a day!

pal, gGHANAMAN is already paying the following taxes:
1. Income Tax ---------15% of income
2. Import Tax --------- don't know about this one.
3. Withholding Tax ---- 5% of service/supply rendered
4. VAT (tax) -----------15% of service/item accessed/bought
5. PURE WATER TAX--something just introduced by AMA
6. whatever else is out there that i don't know about yet.

so why on God's earth would these kuffused one and his folks think to tax us more when for talking is good? what stupid thing to think pal... and hear them talk... they say they will take away the import duty on mobile phone handsets (BECAUSE SOME FOLKS ARE SWERVING THE TRAP) so that people could import more handsets into the country and that would reduce the cost per mobile handsets and even so how much gGHANAMAN spends on airtime. heeeeeeehe... this thing just sounds like so cheap! makes me erect!

Ghana our fatherland pal, is full of taxes! so what is the issue of introducing another tax! and funny enough VAT is paid by the phone networks to the government which cost is anyway transfered to the user already...we know...

my beef is instead of thinking through all the maze of taxes that have been heaped on gGHANAMAN...someone is dreaming crazy! instead of working out how effectively to collect tax so that gGHANAMAN alone is not left to suffer someone is having orgasm and thinking we all feel same!

pal, imagine a poor worker who is paid 1million cedis A MONTH (that is even high as per what the reality is), calculate how much tax he would have paid before the end of the month...include his income tax and VAT on goods and services he is likely to access. bearing in mind that pure water now also has a tax of about 100 cedis slapped on it by AMA. INSANE!

tax is not bad if we accept that it is the way to go...we may even choose not to accept it anyway. There's no issue about that...and taxing is not the only way to run a nation. of course taxing is done now for a number of reasons and not just collection of revenue waa waaa waaa....taxing may be implemented to bring about control... eg. tax a stick of cigarette to discourage the smoking of human hearts! which otherwise could end up being a burden on the national coffers because many such damned and smoked hearts may require medical attention at a cost!

i say let us have a uniform tax system pal...if we want VAT...then let it be VAT and take away all the income and 'lampo o" (this thing is still being charged in some places you won't believe it). Recently i passed through the Tema Community 1 market on my way to the lorry station and i was stopped to pay 'lampo o'. heeeeeeeehe! i burst into fits of laughter pal....it was crazy!

So pal, tell the kuffused one and his assistants to stop playing the fool with serious matters. They are behaving like kids who have been given toys to play with and they seem to be over the moon with foolish ideas. and so if they don't know how to lay traps then they should learn better!

sIMPLY STUPID PAL, STUPID!!!

P.S.
pal, spot any foolish mistake on my part, be kind to forgive cos gHANAMAN has not much time to spend on pieces like this...i need to go look for money!
