pal,

so the resource wasting and indeed foolish petition by Bawumia and his Akuffo Addo and their Jake on the 2012 prez election in Ghana is ongoing at the court with full blast live telecast.

assuming I was some stranger in Ghana who did not know what went on during the 2012 elections as some people are making themselves out to be, even though they voted (and christo! they voted!), for me, the court case should have been called closed last Wednesday 24th April the 6th day of proceedings as Bawumia under oath agreed with the suggestion from Mahama's counsel Tony Lithur that Mahama did not steal and that Mahama won resoundingly; with Bawumia only adding, albeit, that 'with irregularities'. This record at the court proceedings answers the two-state issue the Supreme Court laid out to be determined: 1. whether there were irregularities and 2. whether the irregularities affects the results. Bawumia dug his own grave right there and that should have ended his stupid litigation.

but yehowa save our souls from being foolish. under cross-examination, after Bawumia made all sorts of allegations, he claimed that if your Tilapia was stolen while your watchman was asleep; that your watchman failed to do his job does not rob you of your right to ownership of that Tilapia and hence the right to seek repossession of same.

this was after it was suggested to him that he could not have a case to complain after agents he and his Akuffo Addo and their Jake sent out to monitor the conduct of the elections did not submit any complain but rather endorsed the proceedings to be satisfactory.

and they call that Tilapia tale an analogy?

Ok. if Bawumia was just an innocent man walking down the street or in some bush, minding his own business and he suddenly shouted this Tilapia tale of his in relation to nothing in particular, then I'd have called him intelligent. Then of course it would be a general truth in itself and by itself (in relation to no particular). An aphorism, even, thus!

But why? why again? we are in court as a nation over a very foolish matter brought upon us by Bawumia and his Akuffo Addo and their Jake; a case of election results, a case of electoral CONTEST, where all interested parties have equal right to position themselves for the ultimate prize - victory!

So how in the name of yehowa does such a situation merit likening to the ownership of Tilapia, let alone that that Tilapia would be said to have been stolen for which reason the case must be made for the return of the Tilapia to the owner? how? How did Bawumia come to own this Tilapia of his? was it by inheritance? his late father willed it to him or what? or he bought this Tilapia at the Accra Mall? or his wife gave it to him as a gift for being a loving husband? so how did Bawumia come to have the 2012 prez election victory as his property for us to be disturbed with his irritating bleats that he must be made to have his property back? how?

If Bawumia cannot show us how the 2012 presidential election victory became his property then we better tell him to stop telling such foolish tales that only fudge the issue at hand further. That tale from Bawumia cannot by sanity be held as an intelligent analogy. analogies don't exist in vacuums. analogies must be applicable to situations under consideration. And there's no logical relation between owning a Tilapia that gets stolen on one hand and electing oneself to contest with others for a prize on an equal platform on the other hand.

again, pal, may yehowa save our souls from such foolishness as Bawumia brings to us.

Pal,

Sometimes I just think people willingly use their nether to think and then let out all manner of fart into the atmosphere for us to consume.

Kenya allowed live TV cameras into the hearing of Odinga's nonsensical case and so Ghana must do same for Nana's even more-than-nonsensical election petition?

No problem. But who are those calling for it and what reasons are they giving for their call?

As a child I always wondered why news broadcasts of court proceedings on TV did not include showing the courtroom with the judge in his wig presiding over arguments. What I got and still get are faces and commentary of the wig wearing lawyers; mostly flamboyant arrant nonsense outside the court. The best picture I get are those by artists in newspapers: artist's impressions!

So I wondered why all the mystification of the law if the law is to serve society really? I recently got to know that Ghanaians decided to copy the donning of those wigs by their colonial masters so that the judges could not be identified in public for fear of being beating well well or maimed or killed by aggrieved persons who don't accept their judgements to the extent of unleashing their own on the judges. Ah well... so they say, but really, it's neither here nor there. We are in Ghana now where there's the very ripe recent history of some of these very disguised judges being kidnapped and murdered into a national scar. If the wigs helped them to escape such death those judges would not have died there way they did. So what's the point hanging on to that useless reason?

So there must be reasons for positions/decisions and the reasons, most importantly, must breathe sanity.

So what is the reason being given for the demand of TV cameras to transmit live audiovisuals into homes, ghettos, the streets, offices, akpeteshie kiosks, etc.? The proponents led by Nana's associates claim that the case in court has heightened tension and so live broadcast would help bring down the tension. I say to them: foolish. very foolish. Who took this very animal case to the courts for the taxpayer's money to be expended on it in the first place? Are they not the ones? Since when did they realize such a case by it's mere nature, and not by their 'all die be die' animal talk, is what would bring tension and what proof of this have they got to show us? What tension if you don't go inciting your people to use catapults or bombs or whatever they can find to kill or cause damage in the name of this animal case?

Pal, we were in Ghana when Afari-Djan the EC boss declared the results of the presidential elections on LIVE TV for all who have eyes and ears to see and hear. Indeed, before Afari-Djan mounted his seat to do his constitutionally mandated duty, we had votes counted in the full glare of the public at polling stations with the public participating. The media with their radio and tv carried these things across the nation for all to experience and we all saw the direction of the results which made Afari-Djan's announcement a telling of what was already known.

Yet after all these Nana and his associates decided to tell us they disagreed with the results. And not just so, they instigated supporters to pour on the streets, visiting mayhem on fellow citizens so that all the LIVE RADIO AND LIVE TV broadcasts did nothing to these Nana's animal band of nonsensical lot led by Nana himself with his charges of "win at all cost" and "all die be die". Indeed, they have formed a so called 'Let My Vote Count' sidekick to this whole animal petition drama and they mount theatres where members scream out that they want to use bombs to show the world how serious they are already. They tell us of one of them who so slapped a fellow citizen in Kumasi leaving the observer in wonder! Such Things! So how the hell they come telling us live broadcast of the court proceedings is what would reduce or remove tension? What the hell? What the bloody hell!

Having realized long ago that those wigs the judges wear does not give them any extra-protection from lunatics after their taxpayer-assigned bodyguards, I have been wanting real still pictures, even, and not artists' impressions alone from courtrooms. So I want tv in all the court rooms at any time all over the world, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. But I want tv for sense and not nonsense. If the tv would not make me learn then I don't want.

Pal, I don't like those Spanish or Mexican soap operas shown on television in Ghana. They only pollute the heads of our people with those. I hardly watch TV. Put a TV in front of me and I could have my eyes fixed on to it alright to your delight but my brain would be searching myriads of territories faraway even beyond the subconscious. So if you want me to watch TV then it better be something I'd learn from: news, discussions on science, theories on humanities, the arts, etc. Else let it be some football match I find important enough for amusement in the absence of akpeteshie.

Pal, I don't see how Nana being cross-examined in court would teach me anything useful. That man does not speak sense. He speaks too much non-sense and this particular petition of his is nothing but an animal whining that at best must be thrown out with retrospective effect to save the taxpayer's money or else he must be charged for all the expenses made.

Pal, I know some people have argued that Nana's case would help us advance our democracy but I vehemently disagree with that position. This petition is a dehumanizing petition. It is an animal petition. Ghana has been on the path of electoral reforms since, at least, 1992: From opaque ballot boxes to transparent ones, etc. Indeed, all those CIs introduced in 2012 were for electoral reforms with intentions for the better. So we don't need any champion Nana from anywhere to take a foolish case to court before we know we ought to have electoral reforms. As we speak the Electoral Commission is going round the country meeting stake holders to learn from the 2012 elections for betterment. So Nana cannot be THE (capital letters) champion of Ghana's electoral reforms. The challenges experienced with the biometric system introduced for the first time in 2012 must be well documented to learn from. That is the way forward. Not this idiotic court case.

Pal, let it be clear that it is no favour Nana is doing us. Our taxpayer's money is being expended on his adventure. So let us have sense. If Nana was minded by sanity or 'no tension', he'd have done the honourable thing of conceding defeat and congratulating the winner on LIVE TV for all to see the very night Afari-Djan declared the results on LIVE TV.

Pal, enough said for now.

Pal I wrote the following for Sena Dagadu whose music I find completed by her vocal prowess!
well, hers is the kind of stuff I call music really. I have seen her perform without instruments and I have seen her perform with instruments too and I have always seen her demonstrate total control over her vocal delivery. Am I making noise? well, I think there are too many pretenders (like Becca, hehe! :-p) on the Ghana music scene that a good music bird like Sena should be trumpeted to reach every grain of sand on the land. Anyway, enough plenty talk. Enjoy her album, Lots of Trees here

Sena Dagadu
--------------
it was in the bar
a joint near Kotoka
with a bottle and a tot
peanuts in between.
and poetry at the microphone.
brothers and sisters had the flow
but she took the place by a sudden storm
"wow! is she from these parts? she doesn't sound..."
"hush hush... didn't you hear the announcer mention her name?"
it was one hell of a vocal storm
"can you feel me now?" she sang
in a mix of afropop, soul and a ting of rock
but it was not a question meant to be answered
you just felt her.
your feet moved and if it didn't move your shoulders moved
your waist would move
and it wasn't just the song
her voice was intensity
her voice was power!
Sena.
pass on a song to her
yeah, pass it on
and you'd feel her tongue
wrapped around the rhythm like she brought it from the womb
the pitch was in the right measure
the lyrics were forever caressing
ah! pal, it's a joke!

That Nana Addo and Bawumia and their Jake's petition in court would be said to be valid and so Nana is the one who was elected as president when Ghanaians went to vote last December is a just a joke.

But what joke haven't we seen in this world manifest? Forget that the Nana's petition is nothing but foolish. Just forget even if you can't forget. I say, pal, forgettttttttt...! So I want to look at what could happen should the Supreme Court which I have no respect for decide to rule in favour of Nana.

1. Does Bawumia become the vice president?
oh yes! that's how vice presidents are made. the constitution says the running mate to the one elected as prez is deemed to be elected vice prez. That's easy right? but wait. That statement that the vice is elected alone presents a trick. Again, let me repeat, the constitution says the vice is deemed to be ELECTED. not appointed. not ordained....

So you see? the vice prez is deemed elected in his own right. Now Pal, Ghana has been near this junction of confusion before. Remember the case of JJ Rawlings being said to have given his first vice, the late Ackaah some kick or shove at a cabinet meeting? or the famous presidential fight could not result in JJ Rawlings sacking his vice. not at all. If it was a case of the prez being said by the constitution to have appointed the vice then JJ Rawlings could have easily taken advantage of that to sack Ackaah and appoint someone else. But the constitution is not a joking matter. It locked the hands of JJ and he had to bear with having his sudden enemy Ackaah firmly rooted at post as vice prez much to his dislike.

So that's a historical record to learn from. I don't see any automatic occupation for Bawumia as vice then should Nana be said by the supreme court that I don't respect to be the elected president. Current veep Amissah-Arthur could easily raise the aforementioned argument of having been elected separately and that would present another battle.

2. Does Nana become president?
Then there is the case in the constitution of what happens when a prez is removed from office. The constitution says, when a prez is removed from office, his vice shall take over as prez. Simple as that. Remove the president and his vice takes over as prez. No 'if'. No 'but'. So you can argue that 'but' in this case it is the legitimacy of the prez election that was challenged and you can even hit your head against the concrete at Akosombo to break the dam into a Noah's time flood as in the Bible and still that your 'but' would have no placement in the constitution.

So this one even makes it more tricky. It means when the prez is removed following Nana's petitions, Nana is not the one to take over. So Nana is not even assured of automatic occupation as prez in this case let alone that Bawumia would become veep. All it takes is for the current veep to first argue that he was elected in his own right to be veep per the constitution and per the same constitution he is to take over from the prez when the prez is removed from office. simple and short.

Aside all that, even the ministers appointed by the prez are as a result of a legitimate exercise of authority by the prez by the constitution. Hence the fact the prez is removed does not mean automatic removal of the ministers he appointed. To remove any of those ministers must follow action by the new president and not by the mere wish of people. So assuming all the ministers decide to stay at post even when Nana is made prez (irrespective of the above stated arguments) then Nana would have to officially sack every single one of these guys if that is what he wants. He can't wish them away. no.

So pal, I laugh when all I hear around me is that bogus 'transient' argument by npp apologists for their so called boycott of activities by the prez because they are challenging his legitimacy. The constitution of Ghana certainly is not something to toy with. These arguments I've raised have not come up for dissection in the mainstream media but I won't be surprised if we end up here come any bogus ruling that Nana is to be made prez by the supreme court that I have no respect for. But of course, I appreciate the fact that Nana is going to have a tough time having that bogus petition of his ruled to be right even by the very supreme court that I have no respect for, let alone by any institution that I have respect for.

So pal, the debate continues...

Pal,

After
all the jargons….after all the plenty talk…after all the making of faces: knotted frowns and pretentious smiles. After
all is said and done… the simple fact that remains is that ‘money goes around’,
with control by those who have the power.

The
last time Nigerians copied that WallStreet delusion by staging OcupyNigeria
or whatever in reaction to the Nigerian government’s decision to remove
subsidies from fuel as dictated or directed or suggested by the Briton Woods,
my reaction was simple: instead of demanding for the stay of subsidy, let the
people ask for working transportation, good roads, vehicles (bicycles,
motor-cycles, trains, boats, aircrafts, etc). Let the people demand good supply
of energy to their business centres and homes, etc. This is be a simple exchange. So govt takes subsidy away and the people get their basic needs. nice bargain.

It's a matter of opportunity cost:

Why
would I shift the matter there? It’s simple. Just a cursory moment of thought
shows the beating of the word subsidy is just another erection of the nebulous.
What a man needs is what it takes to survive and function as he wants or as is
expected of him, as the case may be, in his society. So whether the means of providing that need is
called subsidy or grand-daddy is irrelevant. See pal, the whole idea of
economics needs a rethink in these days as it has become abundantly clear that
so far the human society is less served, if not robbed, by all the convoluted
talk of theories. They are not working. They have not worked. And I dare say
they’d never work.

The
resource in the world is finite. That is the basic block that should show that
when a man is made into a star as being a millionaire or a billionaire, what it
means is that someone has suffered for that one man to accumulate all that for
himself. The tragedy for me is when the very robbed person is the one who is so
deluded to look on in amazement of the billionaire.

I
cringed to the marrow when upon the announcement of Ghana finding oil by my
dear Kufused and his lot, the then vice prez the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama stuck
his neck out proudly to claim that it meant Ghana was also now going to make millionaires.
Such glorification of idiocy hit me to the core! For the religious and the
traditionalists stuck in dogma! I’m sorry I don’t observe so called respect for
the dead in trade for sanity. So observe your so called respect by claiming you
don’t speak evil of the dead when I even know it’s just a farce you put up as
and when it suits you. Anyway… so that was Alhaji and his idiocy! the same
person who swore oath to ensure the welfare of all Ghana-ians.

So
the govt of Ghana says it wants to remove fuel subsidies to pave way for the
enjoyment of the poor since as the arrangement is now, according to govt
officials, the poor do not benefit. Ayoooo! I say Ayoooo! For me I don’t care
whether you keep subsidies or throw them into the deep blue sea. It is neither
here nor there. What I care about is, if I set out to take trotro from Osu to
La, I should be able to afford it and that means govt must make it possible for
me to afford. It is the job of govt. Else govt must cease to exist.

The
govt worker who goes to sit at the ministry serving officials needs adequate
financial base to afford food, clothing, education, transportation, etc, every
single day of his life and for a meaningful estimate of his dependents (spouse,
children, etc. China says one child per family else fine). This is what all
those economic theories must be solving. Else what’s their use? And to such a
man, what does it matter whether you keep subsidy on fuel or not when he still
cannot afford in any of the two circumstances because his salary is inhuman to
say the least?

Ghana
has been down this road of removal of subsidy. That is what the Kufour govt
did. They claimed Rawlings govt had so rundown the economy with subsidy that
they needed to do full cost recovery. Kufour even had the guts to tell folks to
tighten their belts while we all saw him gleefully not only loosening his own
but adding more yards to cater for extra regions his waist expanded to with
conquest’s jubilation. They said they needed to make the consumer so pay that
the cost would be recovered to keep the supply running. So it was done. But in
the end the Tema Oil Refinery which was used as a decoy ended up with more
debt. That must have been the making of witches and wizards that prevented
Kufour and his gang from achieving their pontifical dreams. Alas they had
nothing or little to lose. They’d not be countered amongst the poor when the
cries are being head.

So I
say Ayooooo to current Mahama and his team on their subsidy removal expedition.
It’s not impossible to pursue the agenda as claimed by them. Oh no! once you
don’t have any witches and wizards disturbing you like they did to Kufour and
his gang. So the poor might just benefit more this time. But I say Ayooooo!

What
I find funny is how suddenly many current govt appointees started talking about
subsidy not being helpful to the poor: Fiifi Kwetey, Fred Tekper, etc. They all
sounded too mechanical to my hearing. It was as if they had rehearsed their
responses to the subject matter. But again I say Ayooooo! I don't agree that we should all pay the same rates for fuel when we're not all consuming at the same rate and when we're not all earning the same from the same govt purse. It should be a simple matter that those who take more from govt must be made to pay more for what they consume. But we're doing little to address such disparities.

So for now, the usual cycle continues, fuel prices are increased, workers would demand increase in minimum wage and hence increase in salary while strikes hit the headlines with all kinds of nonsensical claims jumbled with the sensible claims.

Let
us see what the removal of subsidies would allow to flow from pipeline.

Pal,
I say Ayoooooo!

Pal,
another day is come!

So yesterday I got the shock promised by the goons in the NPP who would not let us have some minimum sense but are about making all manner of illogical and plain stupid claims under the guise of democracy or deepening democracy!

I don't know about you pal. I went to the polling station on December 7 at my own sweet time, after 3pm, even though I heard alarms of how some folks had queued up from evening the previous day for an event that was supposed to start 7am (Ghanaians love their politics in a funny way with all manner of pretenses too). No hussle for me. I got me through the voting process with a feel-good air after which I hit some joint with pals for enough to drink to keep me alert for the long hours of following the work of journalists who claimed to be mounting all kinds of stages for monitoring the count of votes on radio and tv.

I love drama. So I listen intently to both sense and nonsense and note them down respectively. and yeah o yeah! there was 'lot--a' npp crap propaganda in the air especially on joy fm as to how they had already won the elections even though it was announced that over a 100 constituencies (out of 275) had problems and so would be voting the following day. I have since 2008 not taken joyfm as sensible radio station for journalism anymore. The likes of Adjoa Yeboah (and where the hell is that load of beauty now?) and Kormla Dumor made me listen some when I was a kid. Since 2008 I got to know where to get more reliable facts on elections: Radio Gold 90.5FM albeit tainted with NDC propaganda too (but and so what? I campaigned for JM but I did so based on facts without hiding under any pillow. Point is simple, give me facts and give me logic even if it's tainted with whatever propaganda. Just make sure you don't churn out lies like joyfm does.

I have no idea whether my particular vote for Mahama as president was countered or thrown into some dustbin. I wish I had the opportunity to be shown evidence of my vote being added to the lot. With the illogical claims by the NPP thus far, I might as well claim to be deepening democracy by hitting the courts to demand that my particular ballot be proved to have been added and countered all the way to the desk of the EC boss before he declared the winner. Don't ask me how. There must be unique identifiers on all ballots.

So if I can't have evidence that my particular vote was countered and it's the same for everybody then why the heck is Nana Addo and his assistants disturbing everyone with the claim that he's so much of a democrat and that he wants every vote to be countered? What the hell! Too many people have sat down quiet to allow this sham of a hype to be disturbing our ears for too long.

So the Nana finally filed their so called 'evidence petition' in court yesterday. So what case is Nana Addo and NPP making now after so called knowledge of evidence of 'systematic' rigging of the election by the EC, the media and Mahama? What the NPP has given us in the public domain are claims of IRREGULARITIES. That's all. There's not a shred of even a claim of rigging on the part of Mahama or the EC or the media (in fact the media is totally cut out now). So this is the basic issue at hand. We were told some people rigged the election and that there's evidence for that. Now the 'evidence', if we can even call it that, brought to us is only about IRREGULARITIES! not rigging. where is the logic? That is the crux of the matter.

Pal, as always when you insult me that I'm a fool who does not think I only find it apt to reply kindly. The display of the Nana Addo and Co is nothing short of that. I'd reply them in same measure. So that is the issue at hand. the NPP is calling me a fool, especially so that Nana Addo opened his mouth and claimed he filed that very foolish petition on my behalf. What the hell! You don't have my permission to file that foolish stuff and yet you have the audacity to claim you're doing it on my behalf! what the hell again! This is the same Nana Addo who just before the elections again opened his mouth and declared that Nana Konadu had endorsed him and had asked all her NDP folks to vote for him only for us to be told it was not true from the office of Nana Konadu. This Nana Addo man is certainly not correct.

Meanwhile the particulars of their filed claims are at best stupid. How can Nana Addo and his bunch of goons pray the Supreme Court to declare himself as the president elect because by their foolish claims Mahama was not electected? First of all, Ghana's constitution does not give any locus to the Supreme Court to declare the winner of the presidential or parliamentary elections. That function is a reserve of the Electoral Commission of Ghana. So clearly Nana Addo who makes a lot of noise about being a lawyer is seeking that the judiciary usurp the powers of the EC. What a charlatan!

That aside pal, There's no automatic rule that once the election of a candidate is ruled to be null and void it means the second placed candidate must be made president elect or just one candidate should be chosen from the lot and declared president. Absolutely No. But you know pal, I'm not surprised at this illogical claim from Nana Addo. Remember the 2007 NPP primaries where he was MADE (note that I say made) the prez candidate of the NPP? The guy was not elected. simple as that. he wasn't elected. Somehow by some azzaaa and patapaaa move he got some folks to rally around him to birth him or create him or mold him or declare him or whatever they did but certainly not elect him the NPP prez candidate for the 2008 elections. So Nana and his actions are well documented. It is the same kind of nonsense he wants to happen to him in the name of Ghana.

And come to think of it. This was the same Nana Addo who just before the elections was demonizing Lauren Gbagbo as somebody whose actions must not be replicated in Ghana regarding elections. Yet what did Gbagbo do? What Gbagbo did was to get the mandated Constitutional Court of Cote d'Ivoire to declare him winner of the 2010 elections in that country. Now Nana is doing a similar thing and yet does not come back to us to tell us he was wrong about Gbagbo and that we should actually make an award for Gbagbo! What a sham character called Nana Addo. What is more? As I pointed out, Ghana's Supreme Court unlike the Constitutional Court of Cote d'Ivoire does not have the mandate to declare winner. So is it not even clear that Gbagbo asked the court to do a job they were mandated to do while Nana Addo is asking the court to do what they're not mandated to do? Who is more of a democrat hence? Such a sham hyped in Ghana like a balloon with that fraudulent free shs proportion.

Pal I don't want to spend to much time on the bogus petition of the NPP which does nothing but insult me. Nonsense!

Pal, I understand that anyone would rather for convenience of not inviting wrath from the goons in NPP set up Ayariga to laugh at instead of Nana Addo. But me I'd do no such thing. Ayariga spoke far more sense than Nana Addo and I proved that in a blog recently about their IEA encounter. And I want to end on a simple stuff from Ayariga: he said if you peddle what you know not to be true as truth then you're corrupt. And thus his definition of corruption went beyond just bribery and that was a lot of sense there. Nana Addo spoke no such sense.

Pal, Ghana's 2012 elections by all standards is the best Ghana has ever had so far in terms of participation (about 80% turnout), transparency (party agents, biometric registration and verification) and prompt declaration of results, etc. Indeed it's an election that can rival many in the world in terms of credibility if it's not the best in the world. Indeed I know of no better electoral system in the world now. We can still make improvements to aim at perfection which would never have as humans (we're not gods or God) but let Nana Addo and his NPP goons aided by Bawumiah (who claims single digit inflation cannot mean rise in price of stuff) not visit nonsense on the system in Ghana.

On that note it can only be clear that what Nana Addo and the NPP are doing is nothing to help our democracy but rather a broad daylight bastardization of the processes we have. Indeed I find it insulting that anyone would claim these fraud being peddled is to help our democracy! please keep such foolishness to yourself pal. don't bring it to me. I won't take it for even free let alone at a cost.

Let us meet again. the drink last night was good. I was so drunk I couldn't sleep. yes. miracle.

Pal,

I wrote about this idiocy a long time ago and I don't even remember the year. It's all got to do with the constitutional rule of Ghana that says for a prez candidate to be declared winner s/he must have "more than 50%" of total valid votes.

But I want to write about it again because some folks who claim to know Engineering Maths etc are preaching total BS. They claim it makes sense to say out of a population (designated as 100%), you can say 50% + 1 of that same population can be countered. So they tell us that the constittutional rule of "more than 50%" is the same is saying "50% + 1".

To be frank Pal, I don't know where this thing came from into the Ghanaian space. If you ask me I'd say I suspect Kweku Baako as the source. He's one person who has had a lot of BS accepted in the society such as saying "let me land" (to mean let me finish my statement) and "let us interrogate the issue". He says such things on radio and every Tom, Dick and Havi (small pig in Ewe language) picks it up and repeats it as if it was sensible to say.

MATHEMATICS:

Pal, there's no Mathematical principle in this world that supports the
addition of a percentage expression and a natural number like 50% + 1. It is the same
way you CANNOT have 50°C + 1. These are entities in different mathematical realms and so it's ILLOGICAL, in capital letters, to attempt adding them.

STATISTICS:

That aside, imagine pal that it was all cool and nice to do that illogical stuff. So how would you then do the counting when I come to tell you that out of the total population of Ghana when you take 50% and then you add 1 person to it (50% + 1) you'd get the proportion of the population that are female. How would you make such a count when our pal Tenance tells you the total population is 10? How would you do it.

However, in comes the Engineering Math NOISE by a pal called Tenance whose twitter handle is @kwakutii. He says what you get in the case of 10 as total is 5 + 1 = 6, since 5 is 50% of the total 10. If you're an idiot you'd be foolishly swayed to accept his claim. What he fails to tell you is where from that 1 he's adding to the 50% or the 5. He tells you the origin of his 5 but doesn't tell you the origin of his 1. why? ask your dear self: is it from space?

ok. Assuming all is alright so far. So I ask Tenance what about if the total population is 11? In similar fashion he says for this case 50% of 11 is 5.5 hence 50% + 1 = 5.5 + 1 = 6.5. Pal, an aside, let me warn you with the reminder that no sensible person would do this and call it math. You can call this UFO language if you want. Else at best you'd want to say 50% + 1 is EQUIVALENT (not equal) to 5.5 + 1 in this particular case. But that's an aside. Let's get back to the BS being claimed to be powered by Engineering Math tutoring. But even before then, how a human would be said to be half and hence we have a 0.5 human to add to 5 humans is a lot of Bull Shit to point out at this stage. Ask Tenance and he'd tell you it's an approximation. An approximation that leaves a human as 0.5 or half-human on earth! and Tenance finds it sane enough to even back with Engineering Math. I prefer to be insane, pal. Everyone's vote is countered as one vote in Ghana and never a fraction of one. Indeed there's nobody's vote that is reserved as a special one vote to be given to anyone who obtains 50% or whatever.

Let's go on. The 'simple and short' of the matter is that percentages of a population are always taken out of a total of 100%. Hence when you say 50% out of a population is female, what that means is that the remaining 50% (thus 100% - 50%) are either males or hemaphrodites (if they exist) or a combination of both male and hermaphrodite, but definitely non-female. You can't say 50% of a population are female while there's 1 (one) female left to be countered or added. Else then how did you get your 50% in the first place? Did you get your 50% from a sample of the population and not the whole population? ask yourself with a frown! So to say you've calculated 50% of a population to be female and still have 1 female to add must mean the following:

a) Your 50% calculation did not include all female in the first place and hence what you called 50% is actually not true. OR

b) You now want to take 1 person from the remaining male and or hermaphrodite population to add to the female population which would be nothing but Baloney!

Now. Just bring the foregoing statistical analysis to the situation of valid votes countered in an election and let's see something: If candidate A has 50% of valid votes then what that means is that the remaining 50% (100% - 50%) is for the other candidate(s). So after a candidate has obtained 50% of total valid votes countered there can't be any 1 vote left anywhere that should belong to him for us to attempt adding that 1 vote to his 50%. In any case assumming we found that there exists some 1 vote that was not originally added to candidate A's account what that would mean is that we'd have to recalculate his percentage out of the total 100% and hence it can't be said he got 50% therefore since that one vote added to his account must be coming from the accounts of the other candidates and not from outside the total 100%.

So to say in the case where the total valid votes is 10 a candidate can be said to have got 50% + 1 and that means 5 + 1 = 6 is total absurdity bordering on the entrance to INSANITY. Candidate A can't have 50% calculated for him from the total 100% and still have 1 vote left. Where's he getting it from? This is where Tenance introduces another absurdity he calls the 1 being encapsulated in percentage. Whatever he means by this I don't even want to bother. But pal if you're calculating the percentage of votes a candidate gets from the total you don't calculate some 50% before adding some 10% from the same total 100%. No. Absolutely No. What you do is to take the total count for the candidate as a fraction of the total valid votes and multiply that fraction by 100. That gives you the percentage of the candidate. Not 50% + 10% as if you divided the population of votes into different chunks.

So Pal, let Ghanaians respect their constitution and stop peddling Bull Shit. It's indeed a violation of the constitutional provision to say the winner of a prez election is determined by that illogical 50% + 1. So pal this matter is clear: constitutionally, mathematically and indeed statistically it's just plain stupidity to say someone has 50% + 1 of votes or 50% + 1 of mangoes or 50% + 1 of devils. just baloney!

At best you can say the 50% + 1 is a figure of speech. In that realm it could be accepted, else don't go saying this anywhere.

Pal, enjoy your life.

and this matter must be settled in the middle.

kɔkɔdene!

He cut short the dawn of the animals
dwelling in the villages and in the cities;
disturbing the ears of every dog, goat and pig.

“You animals! come and listen… finally…
I’ve got the grand vision… the one grand vision that
would transform you from goats and pigs into human beings.
make me king uhuh! make me king and you’d have it all for free…free…free…”

and now this matter must be settled before midnight passes.
and so said Akpoplonto!

and he summoned the animals
to his village square and there
they built a stage for kɔkɔdene.
they even added an extra raiser to make sure
his height was not in question as
the man of vision he claimed to be.

and this matter must be settled before the next dawn.
and so demanded Akpokplonto!
“now let him show us how his vision works.”

and so kɔkɔdene! ever the showman,
he mounted the stage; adjusted his collar, touched his cuffs, re-aligned his throat,
wiped his mouth, filled his lungs with air so he was inflated like a balloon,
raised his hand towards the animals and then he began to give his speech.

and so it happened
his voice thundered across the length and breadth of the village square;
breaking the boundaries…
like kroo…like kroo… like boom…like gbim… like gbim…like kroo…like kroo
and he spoke and he croaked and he spoke…and he croaked…and he…

“and so what have we now?” Akpokplonto stood up.
"what have you said?"
“IT. I say to you: I have said IT”.

and so says kɔkɔdene: IT.
he says he has said IT.

Pal,

I
never took Otabil serious from the very day (sometime in the 90s when I was a child) I heard him claim he did not eat
fufu because human power was used to pound it instead of machines, and that we
should be making machines to do jobs instead of using man-power! neither here nor there!

When
a man tells me he is not a politician or does not engage in politics, I take a
look at his nose, then I tell myself, either he’s confused, doesn’t understand
what it means to be a politician, or he’s in want of a better word to describe
his circumstance or just playing plain scam!

Worse
so if the man happens to be a pastor who influences the decisions of men in
society based on the Bible or other claimed holy grounds or spiritual sources.
You peddle your influence, you make tobey-tobey! day after day spewing your
opinions mostly under the deception you are speaking from the Bible and yet you
want to tell me you’re just a pastor but never a politician? Maybe you’re stoned!

Pastor
Mensah Otabil of the ICGC establishment has been in the public domain for long,
spewing his opinion at the least opportunity freely under the guise of
preaching the word of God. He doesn’t stop there. He has made a whole industry of
publishing books/pamphlets and audios of his sayings. He makes good money by
selling his opinion that even Jesus under whose name he exploits folks for
money would envy him greatly. Hallelujah! Somebody say “I hear you!” Just watch
and don’t be deceived by his modest way of dressing in is called ‘African wear’.
He’s hidden himself behind the pulpit to make good money for himself.

After
holding a scam of a press conference to do veiled politicking on behalf of the
NPP in the wake of his voice being played, which recorded voice plays condemn
the devilish ‘all die be die’ mantra by Akufo Addo and the NPP and to a large
extent their fraudulent ‘free shs’ claim, Pastor Otabil decided to do a
preaching in his church by the title ‘Your Vote’. The motive of Otabil to play
victim and try in favour of the NPP cannot be over emphasized. This Otabil man’s
name was used by the same NPP to peddle scare-mongering among the populace
during the 2008 elections that the NDC party had targeted him and another
azzaaa Pastor Dag Heward Mills for slaughter should the NDC win power. Lo and
behold the people saw through this devilish act which a news report by the
statesman, a mouthpiece of the NPP, says Otabil gave credence to. The people voted
for Mills of NDC to be president. I’m told Mills even bent over to call this
419 pastor to assure him of safety.

So
in this Otabil ‘Your Vote’ sermon, what does he say? He claims when you vote come
Ghana Election day you’d be surrendering your sovereignty to one person. What a
sheer sounding of deception. This is the kind of confusion Otabil peddles and
calls inspirational talk. Pal, The constitution of the republic of Ghana says
sovereignty resides in the people of Ghana. There’s no part of that
constitution that ever talks about transfer of sovereignty let alone surrender.
Otabil just doesn’t get it! Yet he opens he claims to be giving inspirational
talk.

Then
the audacity of a hypocritical Otabil to call on others to look beyond party names
in their voting decisions. This man held a press conference on an issue and did
not see beyond the party NDC. He didn’t just blame the NDC for the re-play of
his voice and words but called them names such as Evil, schizophrenic,
Machiallian, etc. This he did instead of focusing attention on the exact
organization, Education Watch, which is behind that project. Yet this man goes
to stand behind his pulpit and claims to be advising others to look beyond the
names of political parties in their decision making. How come he did not see
Education Watch at his presser? Clearly Otabil cannot be taken serious. He’s a
damn hypocrite!

And
just listen to Otabil talk about democracy not existing in the time of the
Bible. Yet in the same breath he cites an instance of voting in the Bible. Otabil
calls voting democracy. Same Otabil
cites an example of voting in the Bible. Yet same Otabil claims there was no
democracy in the time of the Bible. Which is which? The contradiction or
confusion displayed by the man Otabil in that regard concerning events in the
Bible, the very book he claims to be a preacher of, is very disturbing if not
alarming.

Pal,
when I’m told that the Bible says ‘don’t touch my anointed’, I ask, who
determines who to be anointed? Doesn’t same Bible also say not everyone who
mentions the name of God and claim to do things in the name of God are
acceptable to God come judgment day? I reserve my right to judge so as I’d be judged
accordingly.

Let’s
meet at the junction pal. There we’d have some more to talk about.

novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-59807848437028062732012-11-11T14:11:00.002+00:002012-11-11T14:36:54.312+00:00collapsed melcom building & insensitive Ghana-ians

Pal,
So it happened. The Melcom shopping mall at Achimota in Accra collapsed resulting in the death and injury of many. Sad occurence really. Sad!

But govt and helpers rose to the occasion to save as many lives as humanly possible. A police man got promoted for risking his own life to save as many as 14 people or so we are told. I salute him with urgency! The Isrealis who have been busy killing people elsewhere with bombs and bullets offered to help save lives here and so stormed town with gadgets of their own and we are told they did well to locate many trapped people, both dead and alive. I thank than but they must stop their murderous acts elsewhere.

I must single out our late prez Mills who sensibly laid a good foundation for our security services by re-tooling them in readiness for a day like this. He got the fire service many new fire tenders in addition to other gears. The National Ambulance service was given new vehicles for their job etc. A lot more is left to be done as can even been seen with the difference in equipment the Isrealis brought but I salute the memory of late prez Mills for playing his part well. This situation would have been worse for lack of rescue equipment if it happened before Mills became prez.

So there's much talk about what actually led to the callapse bla bla bla. For me it's just another symptom of the general level of ThiefMan-thief-ThiefMan and indiscipline in the country. Systems don't work much and folks don't respect the rules. Corruption gallore! No wonder the building was put up under the leadership of prez Kufour, which leadership made us witness one of the most corrupting periods of stuff in Ghana's history. And we are told the owner is a friend to prez Kufour.

Me I have one suggestion, aside whatever would be done to help in the future, we should have such big entities employing enough safety officials to be at post day after day to be responsible for general safety measures: fire, light, ventilation, falling objects, etc! And that's another job creation avenue there for those who make noise about job creation as if it's some mystery to have as vision.

But Pal, what I'm curious about is some sumersaulting by Elvis Efriyie Ankra, Campaign coordinator for my presidential candidate of choice prez Mahama vis-a-vis some cloud of confusion some Ghana-ians are calling 'insensitive'.

Mr. Ankra amidst the troubling collapse of the Melcom building granted interview and described the fraudulent free shs proposal from the Nana Addo and his NPP as lacking substance or foundation and hence makes their campaign collapse like the Melcom building.

But come and see Pal, suddenly hell breaks loose, some got up and claimed Elvis was insensitive to the plight of the vitims for his comparison! Of course, and as usual the NPP jumped and issued a statement calling for the sack of Mr. Ankrah. Of course I expect a fraudster to fully take advantage of the sentiments of folks to execute his fraud. So why won't the NPP led by the clown Sir John as Gen. Sec., do that? Of courst to not do so would mean being quiet as their fraud is being further exposed and they don't want that because it would mean costing them votes.

Somehow, but not surprising to me Mr. Ankrah comes out to apologize for 'inappropriate' analogy. nice way to put it. He did not say therefore the fraud free shs lacks foundation. He only apologized for using the 'Melcom' disaster for analogy. So what? Folks are accepting this apology? Well those who called for it must accept it. But not me! Please in the name of Jehohah I reject this apology as being insentitive to my concern for dangers in society. Ahem! you think you are the only one with sensitivity? Me too I have my sensitivity and mine is based on concrete rational reason! Not meaningless sentimentalism or fake political exploitation disguised as concern.

I only pity Mr. Ankrah! He's doing partisan politics in an environment where there are a lot of charlatans parading as statesmen or respectable men or elderly men and who come in all manner of forms like ex-presidents, pastors, etc., such mundane stuff! and who speak on issues and are expected to be heeded without much question.

Sometimes Pal, I feel my maker, thus if I he or she or it exists at all, was not fair to me for putting me in a world with people who spend their brain on such idiotic claims! How could a reference to another danger to society be said to be insensitive to victims of one danger that actually resulted in casualties to the extent of death? Alas that is the state of affairs we have. Not far off in neigbouring Nigeria too is a group of bandits clothed under the garb of Islamism who are bombing and slaughering folks for not being sensitive to their dictate tha Western education or Christian fellowship is a taboo. So so much ado about sensitivity! That instead of reasoning to make logical arguments and conclusions some want us to settle for these nebulous claims about sensitivity.

This can't be a society of justice! It's a society of stupidity. Claims are made and be they logically sound or not, some folks just follow like yoo-yoo swinging!

Please Pal, if you see Mr. Ankrah, tell him me too I say he should apologize to me for being insensitive to my concern for dangers agaisnt society because he apologized for saying what is logically right to say. Something that I stand for: guarding against dangers in society.

May the departed, as a result of the collapse of the fruad building have good rest and may we learn to guard ourselves agaisnt other frauds that are dangerous to the society like the so called free shs from Nana Addo and his company!

I bless you!

novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-10801281311088090742012-11-04T22:57:00.001+00:002012-11-04T22:57:49.077+00:002012 prez IEA debate

Pal,
It should be jazzing to your ears by now when I say the IEA is a bogus platform. But I'd start from this point just because Dr. Nduom and his PPP are protesting why they were left out of the debate.

Dr. Nduom as then CPP prez candidate in 2008 partook in the then debate based on same criteria (for parties with MPs only) as is being applied today, but he did not find it prudent to protest for those left out to be included. See pal, this Dr. Nduom guy is a kweku ananse politician. when it's convenient for him and in his favour he shuts up and enjoys himself. Else he makes noise. And he makes this his protest without regard to the fact that the IEA does not owe him inclusion because the IEA is an NGO and not a state institution. Anyway, Nduom and his kantata for you!

Introduction:
The condidates were asked to introduce themselves. Something I found irrelevant. I think the a moderator could have read out simple introductions for all of them. Meanwhile, Nana Addo spent too much time thanking people and saying Baraka da sala to moslems instead of simply introducing himself. He got belled out and so didn't conclude.

Summary First:
I wish to present a sum of all the presentations by the candidates as follows before delving into specifics:

Mahama the teacher:
It was a debate, but you could be mistaken for assuming Mahama was in to teach instead of debating. Pal, Mahama is not like me who relishes provoking nonsense out of people. He's a gentleman. Ok. So instead of jabbing, left-hooking and upper-cutting Nana Addo the main opponent and also the most dumbest of all the candidates, he relaxed and rather resorted to what I'd best describe as teaching. He was the teacher of the night with facts and on-the-ground substance and logic to show and I no objective rating would rate him second to any of the candidates.

Abu Sakara the dreamer:
Good measure for a dreamland rhetoric, a day dream of a dark-skinned lady with the sun in her eyes charming the loins of men! That was what Abu was like. And Pal, you can call me a discoverer of Abu for this sort of measure. Way back in 2008 when he was veep candidate partnering the kweku ananse Nduom on CPP ticket I blogged and stated he was the kind of leader Ghana needs in terms of how he speaks to issues. Then of course I did not analyze his policy positions critically but now that I do I just he's ok for challenging ideas but on substance he confuses his own positions and I'd show soon. Some say he was rather the winner, I think those are either dissappointed Nana Addo's apologists or just people who did not pay critical attention.

Hassan Ayariga the entertainer:
Forget those staged comedy shows. This was pure comedy borne out of frankness and guts. He certainly had a problem communicating in English, something he's not shy to admit with the challenge that he's a German trained and hence could dare anyone to speaking German. In any case he has subsequently argued that if English was what was needed for leadership then we're better off bringing back the 'whitemen' to govern us. language difficulty aside, Ayariga spoke to core common sense on the subjects discussed.

Nana Addo the mentioner of English words:
He was the talkative who got belled out on the very first attempt: his mere introduction and he was the talkative who got belled out of his closing remarks despite asking for an additional 1 minute for closing remark to add to the initial 2 mins given. In-between, he was just a mess complainant of problems some or most of which do not even exist or at best exist in his head as his claims were just bogus. And he even needed help from Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, one of the moderators, with a leading question (something the others didn't get) to attempt finish answering a simple question asked. In the end, even with the help he failed to answer.

NOW THE DEBATE:
a) Broad Vision For Ghana (under theme 'economy'):
They all did ok on this. Except that Nana Addo had his presentation interrupted by some wrong timing by the timer and when asked to continue he requested to be allowed to start from the beginning. So he got and 3 full minutes again to repeat part of the stuff he said. A lot of the things he said were just words.

b) views on National Development Planning Commission based on 1992 constitution and how to make it more effective:
-Dr. Abu Sakara argues that there should be a national policy entrenched in constitution. But Dr. Abu cannot be taken seriously on this because the regime we have is a multi-party democracy and not a one-party state. That is point number one. Point number two is found in the prez answer below. So Sakara was just off. He got put a square peg in a round hole.

-Ayariga argues that all stake holders should be brought on-board to put a national policy together so that it would not be said that only one party did it and hence condition for rejection. In essence this is what the current state is. Then he talks about separating political power from economic power. He didn't say exactly how to do this.

-Nana Addo makes a bombastic claim that they'd not wait but move straight to implement their manifesto and that He'd put his veep as head of NDPC. That is his idea of making it effective and he claims it is backed by the constitution. Just hogwash! It is not the NDPC that implements policies. So the veep being head there is neither here nor there. The veep can be there and the executive would still decide not to follow NDPC plans. So Nana's claim is just, I repeat, hogwash!

-Prez Mahama quickly shoots down Nana Addo's claim that he'd not wait to implement his manifesto and that the veep being in-charge of NDPC clearly shows confusiong in Nana's head. He pointed out that his govt waited to run GPRS2. Again he pointed out that putting veep as head of NDPC only compounds the problem of continuity with succeeding govt. Indeed, the NDPC is an advisory body and hence how Nana expects his govt to be advised by it's own veep is clear confusion. Again, in responding to the question on entrenchment, the prez made it clear that doing so would mean after every period of a plan the constitution would need amendment and that makes it an excessive exercise. The prez was on point.

c) How to maximize tax for implementing policies:
-Ayariga argued about broadenning the tax network. The argued for proper national identification system and a decentralization of the system for effective monitoring. He added generally that people who offend the should be taxed instead of imprisonning them. That's very general. Surely not all categories of law offenders should be taxed instead of imprisonment but it's not a bad idea. It's something that could be distilled and targetted at people who commit minor offenses.

-Nana Addo talked about reforms under Kufour. Then he said point number 1 is simplifying our tax laws. Yet he didn't show about our tax laws are complex that need simplification. His said his second measure would be reducing corruption in the system and for that he claimed he'd apply what he calls Anas-principle, based on the under-cover work of journalist Anas. Why this man is claiming he'd use this crude method in our formal system leaves much to be desired. Anas-principle indeed! Meanwhile we know how cases from Anas have not been suscessfully prosecuted in court for lack of evidence. So what again? And we know that even after Anas exposed some people with his money making videos corruption is still going on *feverishly*. So what's it with Nana's fixation on Anas principle since this guy got national recognition? He's been all around singing Anas principle...Anas principle.

-Prez Mahama argued about his party's record being for tax reforms and pointed out how some people who built reputation fight tax reforms (Nana Addo protested against introductio of VAT). He then talked about ongoing reforms that has resulted in creaation of National revenue Authority to replace old system. Then he talked about application of technology to eliminate human discretion in the system. That's a scientific thing and provides preventive measures. Compare that to Nana's crude so called Anas-principle. The prez then added that tax evaders should be punished with prison terms for example instead of just paying fines.

-Dr. Sarkara argued that the economy first needs to be grown so to make tax collection meaningful becase as he puts it (you can't collect what is not there). He also argued for expansion of tax net, saying that people in the informal sector should be taxed in 'small amounts over a period' instead of big sums that could threaten their businesses. He also called for the completion of the National ID system for efective monitoring.

Pal, let us pause. The debate was a long one, so I'd only hence pick and choose some areas to focus on.

d) EDUCATION: candidates asked to show how they plan to fill funding gaps at all leves (primary, secondary and tertiary) while implementing their individual proposals for education alongside:

-Dr. Sakara claimed dealing with wastage in the system and using a percentage of oil funds

-Ayariga, argues that if even with fee-paying currently we have problem with quality then it rather makes sense to focus on investing in quality. He says that in any case those talking about free have left out university and so who would take care of building universities for shs graduates to be absorbed into. As he puts it we should produce 'absorbable graduates and not avoidable graduates'.

-Nana Addo claimed that school blocks cost more today than in Kufour's time and that it is due to waste. So he claimed we should restrain the 'padded' developments. He did not say he'd make sure there's no padded development in his govt. Also he said we need to pay attention to timeous releasing of funds for schools. He claimed the gaps talked about would be filled by our oil revenue. He did not say the oil funds are finite and would run out at some time but educatio would continue to be in need of funds. He did not even respect the fact that allocation of oil money has already been made by parliament. When asked how his free education solves the problem of people who have qualified and can afford but don't have access, his answer to Kojo was that he wasn't sure who Kojo was listening to and that the din from people he met on his tour is free shs. Such a crass level of stupidity! This guy has no respect for available data on education. Has he checked the latest admission figures across the country? sheer foolishness.

-Prez Mahama makes the point that priority must mean providing access to more people in terms of building infrastructure and not declaring education free because that would not cover all the students. He referenced the constitutional provision that places demand on govt to implement free compulsory, universal basic education. These provision he pointed has not been achieved and that's where attention should be focused.

--Ayariga called for a rebuttal and stated that we should be serious when it comes to economic and national issues. He argued along the same king of line that Mahama did. He challenged all to a simple maths of 200 cedis x 1,000,000 student polution for a term and check where would get that kind of money to fund free education.

--Nana Addo obviously felt the heat and called for a rebuttal too. He was given the opportunity and what did he say? bla bla bla... we can no longer wait... bla bla bla... that once you make it a priority, whatever the amount is (seriously, whatever the amount is?) you'd find the money to do it. And that we should understand for him it's a national crusade. Pal, if this is not sheer lunacy then I wonder what we're about.

--Prez Mahama also called for a rebuttal and summed up that the needed infrastructure for the kind of thing Nana Addo was talking about was non-existent and so his claims were just mis-placed priority.

Pal, me, Nana was lucky to have Mahama who was ready to give him lessons. If I were the one debating him I'd have pointed out his clear lunacy and fraud. Enough of this crusader of lunacy in that name of the people.

e)Candidates asked to give 3 top challenges of heal care delivery and what they'd do about them:
-Nana Addo, started and he just went on and on and on about NHIS and you couldn't tell which part of the question he was answering. NHIS this and NHIS that. He claimed the NPP admin left the NHIS with surplus funds. hallelujah! surplus funds? Was everyting about the NHIS achieved by the time NPP was leaving office? Clearly Nana Addo does not understand what surplus means. lunacy! And he was belled out. The man did not answer the question. Yet, Kojo somehow claimed he had provided one and so he should give the other two, and Kojo helped him with the leading question: what about access and infrastructure? And even with that leading question, Nana still went back to NHIS. He claimed the NHIS funds were to cater for access and infrastructure. Meanwhile, before being aided with this leading question he had claimed that the NHIS fund was meant for the NHIS development! Pal, if you try to mary the contradiction you'd go mad. Nana's lunacy is severe.

-Prez Mahama responded to Nana's NHIS ringtone and pointed out that Nana was wrong about the current state of the NHIS and that the scheme had improved contrary to what Nana was saying. He provided some datat to back his point. He then 1. Access and of this he talked about invesment in infrastructure like hospitals etc. 2. Human Resource, about which he said midwifery institutions and universities have been setup to address this. 3. Affordability, which he says the NHIS was setup to deal with, etc. (remember Nana said NHIS is responsible for infrastructure).
So you see a clear sound minded answer to the question asked by the prez compared to the lunacy of an answer from Nana Addo. Pal, it's not a joking matter! Nana Addo is not correct! plain and simple.

-Dr. Sakakar talked of 1. Prevention (of diseases). 2.Access 3. Adequacy of health care. He also explained his areas somehow.

-Ayariga 1. Acess. 2. Family planning (contraceptives). 3.Personnel training (doctors, nurses, etc) and provision of equipment. He also talked about sanitation and infrastructure (private centres, ambulances).

--Nana Addo asked to make a rebuttal, and what did he say? He claimed the fact that more people visit hospitals mean that more people are getting sick. So in the world of Nana Addo folks don't go to do check-ups. Folks don't do medical exams for travel, etc. For Nana Addo once you visit the hospital it means you are sick. My God! the man is sick. Then he put out some figure as cost for training doctors.
--The prez too asked for rebuttal and pointed out that Nana's figure for the Cuba training of doctors was not correct and instead of Nana Addo keeping quiet since it wasn't his turn to speak he interjected and claimed the source of his figure was the Internet! Christo! This is some man who has got some young guys around him working stuff for him on the Internet which he launched in his usual flamboyant manner and does not even know that the Internes is a place for different things and hence making it a reference for a platform like that amounted to nothing but stupidity. Which part of the Internet? sheer lunacy from Nana Addo again.

Pal, I'd end here, the rest of the debate followed similar fashion with Nana Addo blowing senseless Jazzzzzzzzz while even Ayariga who was laughed at for his use of English even made more substantial sense than him.

Pal, for me this who thing proves my long standing point on Nana Addo that he does not speak sense. The man is just full of nonsense and must not be allowed near the presidency of Ghana!
Later!

Pal,

So finally prez Mahama mounted the IEA platform in reverse to his party's initial position not to.

I was never amused when it was announced that the NDC had rescinded it's decision not to partake in IEA encounter. Not that I agree with the reasons given for the initial snub. No. indeed I find the reasons the NDC gave bogus, that it was convention that no sitting prez took part. bogus reason.

The IEA has been a misbehaving entity! They have failed to own up for their ills and on that score, I hold the opinion that all Ghanaians must hold them to task and demand responsibility from them instead of sweeping issues under the carpet. Instead of doing this clearly, the NDC rather issued an official statement claiming it's convention that no sitting president has taken part in the IEA encounters or debates. Convention my foot! I don't care about convention. tell me something more meaningful. tell me you want to snub the IEA bcos of their behaviour and I'd support that stance 100%. After all the IEA is not a state institution. It's an NGO which gets funding from external sources and hence must not be allowed to dictate to Ghanaians how the nations democracy should progress.

Anyway, many things have passed under the bridge. Prez Mills has passed too. Now prez Mahama who took over after the passing of prez Mills decided to partake in the encounters after meetings with the IEA. no problem. 'new king, new law'. So he goes to mount the stage.

Prez Mahama like the others before him makes an initial speech, enumerating a number of stuff done by his govt and others planed to be done if he is elected as prez in the 2012 elections. Many things. I'm not one who goes chasing promises. For me I've seen too much stupidity in leadership that all I look out for are really basic advancement of sensible positions. I know corruption can never be eradicated by anyone. I know we can only keep working at it. I know no one can make manifest all his electoral promises by the end of his/her 4 year term. I need not be told that even some promises need to be discarded before any recall of them let alone that they have attempted implementation. These I know. Hence I'm no fun of electoral promises. I just listen and take notes however. All I want is sense. Talk sense to me. If you are a leader who cannot or does not speak sensibly to facts with logical linkages of objectives and means then just don't bother talking to my hearing.

So well, prez Mahama talked a lot of sense. I'm not the type who does praise singing because I think outside the arena of play or fun, praises easily corrupt. So even though I make no pretenses of the fact that he's my candidate of choice to be president for the 2012 elections, I'd rather do critical analysis of his talk than praise him. But this is tough I must confess because Mahama simply did well. I can hardly punch a hole in all the things he said. I'd very much be ready to engage anyone who thinks he/she can pick out vital flaws in Mahama's presentation for us to see.

Pal, Mahama talked about education and health, among others. On education he made the point succinctly clear that we should not allow anyone to steal the vision set out in our constitution by the framers of the constitution on the point of free education at any level. This statement for me is very profound and shows that all those who have been hailing the NPP's Nana Addo's claim of being the one with a vision coming with 'free shs' (pal, note that I put that in quotes because I dare say Nana Addo does not know what he's promising. free edu or free shs) have just been fraudulent. It's a pity that for whatever reason, even people who are expected to be sensible, journalists, professors, etc have all fanned this rape of the conscience of the nation by Nana Addo just because he wants to be president. Such poison! But thank God that prez Mahama minced no words in pointing out the fact.

The most striking thing about Mahama's presentation was the fact that when he mentioned something in broad terms, he took pains to define exactly what he means. Meaning he was very particular about his choice of words. For example on his energy policy which he laid out broadly as improving accessibility he stated how he was going to tackle it by saying with a pause: "let me give you the definition of this" and proceeded to say what he meant. Again, in talking about the involvement of women in leadership by govt already, he pointed out specifically that his govt had appointed the first substantive head of the CHRAJ. A loose talker would have just said 'first woman head of CHRAJ' but that would be deceptive because we've had a previous woman head of CHRAJ, only she was an acting head and not a substantive head. Mahama nailed it down to the bare bone!

My only problem with Mahama is one of a deep philosophical delving. He said in answer to making secondary education affordable that all secondary schools should be made to charge same fees in Ghana. I'm not sure this can work. First of all, the secondary schools are of different standards with different facilities. So it can't be that govt can provide same amount of resource to all secondary schools. For example, a secondary school that has 3 buses would need more money for maintenance than one that has only one bus. So if the secondary schools charge students somehow (and they do have their ways of doing these) for such maintenance then it only stands to reason that the one with 3 buses would charge more than the one with only one bus.

Would govt be ready to take all these burden and equalize the charges? how would the equalization work? You'd take the upper limit which is that of the one with the most buses (or needs) and give same to the others which don't need all the extra? or how? The lowest limit certainly can't provide for the ones with more demands so that one is a no-go! So how would this equalization or standardization be done? I doubt govt can achieve this. By another view, there are differences that exist between materials needed for practical work and theory. Schools with more practical material/tool demands have their uniqueness too. similar thing like the 'bus analogy' I've just given. I think this would be a wild goose chase and it must not be pursued. Me think the schools should rather be given the right to decide their individual needs and charges with concensus with students/parents and with good supervision by govt and provision of subsidy by govt where needed and where appropriate.

Pal, that is the only problem I found with Mahama's presentation and this one is an issue of opinion. It's not that he got some fact wrong. It's not that he made an outright illogical claim. Mahama just delivered so well that I'd be happy to have anyone point to me anything so bad. I don't see any. Not that I had any doubt he could deliver. no. indeed like I've stated my position against the IEA, as my candidate of choice, I was against him mounting that platform with the reasons I've given above. I know Mahama to be a good and sound communicator. I know he talks a lot of sense and that's the reason why I support him and I don't need anyone coming to tell me about his level of thoughts.

Pal, I'd leave you to go find out the other details of what prez Mahama who has the twitter handle @JDMahama presented. To continue would mean risking singing praises which I don't want to do because he gave very sensible and pragmatic answers to questions raised. I support him because he preaches ideals I share and I'd rather let it remain so.

Pal, have a good time!

novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-18918210326294759652012-09-06T04:01:00.000+00:002012-09-06T07:15:29.576+00:00Nana Addo's SCAM called free shs

Pal dearest of all dears,

In all the discussions about Nana Addo's free SHS claims I find Ablakwah, the deputy minister for Information's description very apt: SCAM!

I find it rather imperative that I document as one package my reaction to the SCAM free SHS proposal being presented to Ghanaians by that man called Nana Addo who wants to be president of Ghana but is not correct! (no! he's wrong!).

Pal, again let me first lay clear the idiotic foundation of the thoughts from this man: He opened his mouth one fine day and told Ghanaians he was coming with programmes but not promises. How any sane person vying for president would claim he's making no promises alone is something that should require urgent examination of his head let alone that that person comes saying whatever proposals he presents to be considered for entrusting him with power are programmes but not promises must necessitate the person having his head quarantined in an intensive care unit away from children!

Forget some of those for a minute pal. Rather, imagine that as a presidential aspirant claiming 'programmes but not promises' is any sane thing to say. Grant him that for the sake of an idiotic-dance try! Just assume so and guess what? The man has been around the whole place, going against his own claim and promising to set up Zongo fund, bring back that pointless ministry of fisheries as what is solution to fishing problems, etc etc etc! Pal, the man has forgotten that he said he's not coming with promises!

So how more base would this man Nana Addo poison the air in our society with his idiocy?

Well pal, against Nana's own claim of not coming with promises is the very stupid promise that he is coming to implement free secondary education because basic education was made free by Kufour! You see pal, basic education is not wholly free in Ghana. So Nana Addo is lying right there! Yet he says based on that lie he's bringing free SHS. Nana and his Kufour and Co introduced some capitation grant for basic school pupils that was noting but some paltry sum per head and used that to peddle deception especially in 2008 that they had made basic education free. But Ghanaians were not fooled at all and voted against Nana and his NPP party. Now we are told NPP reviewed why they lost 2008 elections. Yet they have still kept at this lie that basic education is free and so Nana is coming to add free SHS. But me pal, when someone insults my intelligence I call the person out. So Nana and his cohorts can only be stupid or worse to be telling me basic education is free. such idiocy!

So clearly, Nana's basis for his free SHS is non-existent! Indeed it's based on a stupid lie. But again, ask Nana what he means by free and he'd tell you he means every cost for putting and keeping students in SHS would be borne by his imagined govt. Now, if so, why are they calling basic education free when not all the cost is taken by govt? See what I see pal? So Nana has two definitions for what is free: (1) The existing basic education which is not free but only has partial cost absorption by govt is free for Nana Addo and (2) for the same Nana Addo, at the same time, his proposed 'all cost' absorption by govt SHS is also free. If this for you is not something from a sick mind pal, then you need your head examined before you next blink your eyes.

Now, it is clear to me that in order to divert attention from his idiocy, when called to answer questions about his free shs claim, he and his apologists would rather be spewing more idiocy with the claim that others are against free education (and they don't say 'against free SHS' but 'against free education') or that others do not have the vision that free education is possible but they have the vision it's possible! Such crap!

Do they even know what they are promising us at all (against Nana's own illogical claim of 'no promises but programmes')? Are they promising us that free education is POSSIBLE (which can only also be a foolish promise to make anyway), is that the promise huh? or they are promising us that they have a particular plan to make SHS free? Which is which for Nana Addo to be beating his chest about that he has vision that free education is possible as if that is his promise which is under scrutiny?

Meanwhile it's important to remember that this same Nana Addo was reported by the GNA in 2008 to have promised the delivery of free public university education by the end of his term in office if voted into power! So it must be asked what happened to the free university bit of his by-heart and clearly thoughtless promises since in 2012 he has not brought that one up again? Should we just assume that that free university education was found to be IMPOSSIBLE by Nana or that it has totally vanished from his head beyond his own comprehension and he can't remember? So, Nana Addo-Danquah Akuffo Addo, your royal lunacy, where is the free university education promise? is it hidden between your thighs now? Pal find that free public universities education promise here (and note that you'd find the lie that basic education was made free by Nana's Kufour administration also there).

Again, talking about what exactly it is Nana Addo is promising: Is it 'free SHS'? or is it 'free education'? or is it 'free education possible'? Which one is it that's Nana Addo's promise? If it is 'free SHS' as he puts it then that's an outright scam! if it's 'free education' then again, another scam! But if it's 'free education possible' then well as for that one it's a lunatic promise! We don't need Nana to tell us free education is possible (that's already even in the constitution) let alone that he comes to promise us it's possible. So what? So he says: "I promise you free education is possible"? That? What kind of promise is that if not lunatic, huh?!! that Nana Addo just gets up to promise us the POSSIBILITY of free education? (for which reason those who oppose his claims should be said to be people who don't accept that free education is possible?) How so lunatic!

Indeed, just yesterday, Nana Addo was about town claiming that members of the NDC who claim to be social democrats (whatever they also mean by that) and yet oppose his plan are against free education and that makes them hypocrites! How so stupid! Why should Nana Addo think that just because someone professes to be some social democrat, it means any idiocy clothed under the guise of some social democratic principle should be accepted by that person? But any wonder? That is just how base Nana Addo is with his head! To him it doesn't matter; once you say you are a social democrat, when he Nana Addo or any other idiot comes telling you that he can use his little finger alone to feed all the mouths in the world you must accept it to be true because that would tie in with your social democratic principle since all would be fed. That is the man Nana Addo for you! That is certainly the man who says 'all die be die'! uhuh!

Talking about free education being possible or otherwise (and ignoring the fact that that is not what Nana promised even though if you question him he'd come claiming you don't accept free education is possible), Pal, the framers of Ghana's 1992 constitution long ago, before this Nana's vision, envisioned that govt of Ghana should work towards making education 'PROGRESSIVELY FREE'. And this constitution was championed by the NDC folks whom Nana Addo today wants to tell us are hypocritical social democrats who don't believe in free education. Now, what could be more visionary than that provision in the constitution that binds all administrations and hence does not give any administration the choice to act otherwise? Indeed, what could be more of a statement of the POSSIBILITY of free education than that for Nana Addo to come today claiming that he has some vision that free education is possible instead of answering concrete questions on his free SHS claim?

Now, back to the beginning again, Nana claims that because students are failing, the solution to that is his bogus free SHS which would give students continuous schooling from basic to SHS nonstop! Mass production! Which sane person would say such a thing? What kind of diagnosis and prescription is that? He claims also that because people cannot afford the fees that's why we have people who are staying at home instead of being in SHS. So the solution is free SHS. Nana fails completely to appreciate the fact that there are many who are staying at home not because they can't afford but because there are no spaces to absorb them even though they qualify by the regulations.

Aside all those complete abuse of the human brain by Nana Addo is the issue of monetary cost! And even here that one could expect Nana to work the numbers as population by cost of items needed with reasonable margins of error, Nana fails to show sense! But of course I don't expect him to show sense even with such mundane estimations! First after various in calls in Ghana for Nana to demonstrate how he'd finance his bogus SHS, he went to the UK and booked an interview spot on BBC HardTalk and when asked Nana claimed, rather bizarrely that he was going to Ghana to tell Ghanaians first before telling the BBC as if if he mentioned it on BBC Ghanaians would not hear or when he comes to mention it in Ghana the BBC would not hear!!! hmmmm pal. I say hmmmmm!

In the end what we got from Nana on that shameful BBC interview were two contradictory positions on the cost: (1) That the financing was already 'costed' and (2) that the financing was 'being costed'. Which is which? Nana Addo failed to tell. But lo and behold, by the next few hours after that interview, all manner of figures started flying at us from his team (including Prof. Gyan Baffour and Boakye Agyako) as the 'cost'. Yet Nana Addo did not come out to tell us which one those figures were: the 'costed' or the 'being costed'. Well, some air got blown over these to quieten things down with the passing of prez Mills and all, but lo and behold, not long after, we were told Nana was to make a full presentation of the cost at the IEA evening encounter with presidential aspirants. OK. Nana got there and talked plenty without substance as I stated in my previous blog and all we got was some by-heart figures mentioned with bogus references to GDP percentages as if we are all dumb we don't know that GDP is not income for govt to spend and as if GDP was always static.

At that encounter Nana claimed he was going to pay for tuition fee too. But tuition is already paid for by govt. I never paid any tuition fee throughout my attendance of public schools including university. Yet Nana adds this to what he claims he'd be paying for to make SHS free. He said 78million cedis is the cost for the first year of implementation. Pal, you can work that figure by the current population alone (don't add those who have not got access yet) per head for fun and see what magic Nana brings! I leave you to do that. that is the figure that would pay for books, tuition, feeding, uniforms, etc. He did not tell us whether all the students (1st, 2nd and 3rd years) would benefit. He just said first year of implementation. hehe! let me laugh!

Yet not long after that claim, Nana's own communication director, when challenged on live radio, claimed that Nana meant additional cost but not full cost? additional cost? how is it additional cost when Nana himself mentions 'tuition' as one of the things he's coming to pay for when tuition is already paid for by govt? The man himself did not say additional cost. he said that is what the cost is for the first year of implementation. Yet when challenged further then to tell what the full cost is, Akomea then bizarrely claimed he did not know the full cost!!! eiiiii more mess! just mess! phumm phumm phumm! hold your nose pal! this is foul air! phumm!

Now, we have the NPP launching their manifesto, and yet after all the gymnastics by Nana at IEA encounter, his figure of 78million cedis cannot be found in that manifesto against his free SHS promise!!!

Pal, need I say more? Nana is a charlatan who doesn't speak sense and his proposal is nothing but a scam!

novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-44651140656081243992012-08-22T03:26:00.001+00:002012-08-23T07:27:52.301+00:00Nana Akuffo Addo talks plenty at IEA

Pal,
Nana Addo mounted the IEA platform and among his first words he stated it was at his request that this IEA encounter was postponed after the passing of president Mills. What an empty boast! Why? did the IEA tell him they'd go ahead with the schedule irrespective of Mills death?

Alas that was the way Nana Addo opened his flood gate for empty talk.

But an aside, before I go on I want to make it clear that me; I'm totally opposed to the candidature of Nana Addo for president for two cardinal reasons:
1. After declaring that vampire 'all die be die' and claiming he must win the elections 'at all cost' Nana Addo does not have the moral right to take part in the democratic process. Yes! it's a democratic process and not an all die be die process. Nana Addo fails on that front.
2. Nana Addo hardly speaks sense and I've demonstrated here before and my general view on his IEA presentation would show more of this point. Clearly for me the NPP failed to listen to one of their own Kwame Pianim who admonished that any idiot could hold a flag. Nana Addo is simply a no no for president of Ghana. Especially not after we've had a sound minded person as prof. Mills being president. I'm talking about Nana Addo who recently made a very irrational claim that he was not coming into office with promises but programmes. That is the mental state of the man I'm talking about.

Anyway, it happens that this is the person the NPP is presenting to us and so just for the sake of routine I'd analyze his presentation at the IEA. I'm still yet to do that for PNC's Ayariga here but let's look at Nana Addo for now.

Nana Addo's prepared speech which he delivered was just full of a lot of words with little substance. He tells Ghanaians to be proud of their democratic achievements. That's fine. He congratulates president Mahama and his veep for assuming power after the demise of president Mills. That's fine too. But before woman could say elephant, this man Nana Addo called the leadership of Mahama a 'caretaker' one and says he'd take over. Why this look down on our instituted leadership? But it's in keeping with Nana's derogatory nature at the least opportunity. He's the same one who called Mills 'prof. Do Little'.

Nana Addo then starts mentioning some strange names claiming they were people he met on his tours around the country and that these people told him all sorts of stories of hardships. What a cheap-trick! Nana immediately reminded me of McCain and his 'Joe the plumber' during the 2008 American elections. McCain got a good embarrassment of his campaign when he wanted to set up Joe the plumber for another deception. And McCain called out: Joe the plumber...Joe the plumber! where are you Joe? but Joe the plumber was nowhere to be found. Nana Addo cannot take us for children to be toyed with. It is imperative that all those mentioned by Nana Addo should be made to come to testify for their cases before if they have to vanish they do so like Joe the plumber.

Nana Addo then proceeds like a zombie to tell that prices of some things have gone up and that shows people are worse off today than they were under his Kufour's administration. What Nana Addo failed to tell was: 1. When we ever had reduction in prices of items on the market in Ghana due to govt policy. 2. He clearly takes us all for fools who don't think about percentage increments but just mere zombie increment. After all, he's the one who says 'all die be die' so it must be to him that 'all increase be increase'. And then he said the black market trade is back as if it went anywhere. Nana Addo should tell us where the black market went to for him to be saying it's back. Such a Sham!

Nana Addo boasted that his was to provide transformational leadership. Whatever he means by those empty words. Juxtapose that with the late president Mills saying he was doing his job and that people should tag it whatever they wanted. See the difference? Nana Addo just talks plenty! Nana Addo lied that the 'cash and carry' scheme under the health system is back. A blatant lie. Then he adds a bizarre line that "today, the fear of getting sick is back". The fear of getting sick is back indeed! He should exorcise that fear and make us feel bold and happy to be sick. What a distorted brain!

On the major issue of his promise of free education at the SHS level of which he stated in that shame of an interview on BBC that he'd tell Ghanaians first before telling the BBC how he was going to fund it, the least said about what he said the better! Indeed, it's vital to ask Nana Addo, since he gave two conflicting positions to the question of cost on BBC ('costed' and 'being costed') as to which one do the figures he presents represent. The 'costed' figures or the 'being costed' figures. Now he claims the first year of implementation would cost 78million cedis. And this figure is different from what his Prof. Gyan Baffour told us not too long a go: $150million (note that that's dollars and not cedis unlike the 78million cedis). Pal, we can deal with the by-heart figures later.

Meanwhile, after mentioning the arbitrary figures this is what Nana had to say: "we know how to fund it. A percentage of the oil revenues allocated to the Ghana National Petroleum Company, and for the funding of the budget, as well as a greater percentage from GETFund, will be used to finance the programme. And really that was just the kind of language he churned out with all his verbosity: 'we could... those can... this should... that must...'

In closing his initial speech, Nana Addo, again, very characteristic of him, without provocation decided to launch an attack on the NDC by claiming the NDC pinched the slogan 'people matter, you matter' from them. And yet he did this without providing a shred of evidence.

Anyway, So it was time for Q&A and again it was all bla bla bla. Ask Nana Addo a question and he would either mention Busia or Kufour as having done something and then he would say 'we should, we could or we must'. A little girl called Angela asked him about how he'd ensure private schools benefitted from his bogus free education provisions and his answer was that there should be partnership between private schools and public schools. hahaha What partnership? what a joke! I don't think the question was relevant but the answer was even more insane! let me laugh, hahahahaha He clearly had no answer. The fact of private schools being profit making institutions must have knocked his head hard beyond his comprehension. Would Nana Addo's govt cater for the profits of private schools? pls let me laugh again at this hollow display!

And then came the most hilarious for me: Nana was asked about how many disabled people he'd employ in his administration and his answer was that anybody willing capable who believed in his agenda, regardless of gender or disability was welcome and that he had no limit. WHAAAAAT? a good laugh must be sufficient at this point. And he too laughed over his own answer. What a flatulence of a Nima gutter stench proportion!

Nana Addo, how would you fight corruption? he was asked and that was my star question as most of the questions were rather blunt with needless preambles. And as part of his answer he claimed as Attorney General he got some legal thing done and then proceeds to say that under him as president potential judgement debt claims would be published for citizens to make inputs and after that the actual payments too would be published, HOWEVER, he failed to tell us that under his watch as Attorney General, this was not done and why it wasn't done! Nana Addo has been exposed as one who even in his private life and recently silently wrote a letter to govt to ask for payment of judgement debt for some so called Great Cape company. Why didn't he publish that letter for us all to see in line with this bogus publication principle of his?

On the whole let me just pause here by saying that Nana Addo's performance at the IEA was just a balloon full of verbosity with little substance!

Pal, this is my judgement of Nana's performance which I don't want to lazily leave to posterity to judge as some would otherwise say. I leave you to make your own judgement.
So prez Mills is no more; pal!

There are many things to say about what I got to know about this man but I can't say it all.

First my major disagreement with him. He preached 'no politics of insults'. He was always reiterating the fact that he wanted discourse in society and politics for that matter to be decorous. But let's face it, what is insult? insult could be anything to anyone. Many were they who felt insulted by some of Mills' statements and I recall what people said when he made the factual point clear that he was not a law enforcement officer. Some claimed he insulted them by that factual statement. So for me there should be insults. In the end let each one decide what is insulting to him/her and whether it's deserved or not. If the president tells you he's not a police officer and you say that factual statement is what is insulting to you then so be it. That must be your lot, idiotic as it is to me. Ahem! pal, I'm mourning my very sound minded president. But I insist that sound sense must prevail and not nonsense!

I was a child when I first saw him on TV partnering then prez Rawlings as veep candidate and subsequently veep. of course those were the days when I did not make much meaning of the body polity of Ghana aside the towering sharp military image and the cracking voice of JJ Rawlings and of course Nkrumah always came up every 6th of March.

Come 2000 elections when Rawlings was no more qualified to stand for re-election after having served the stipulated 8 years by the constitution, he Rawlings without warning just thrust then vice prez Mills into the driving seat at an NDC rally in Swedru, declaring that if Mills would stand then he Rawlings would back him for president. Mills obliged. Congress subsequently endorsed him by consensus without opposition and then he became the presidential candidate. A democratic process with the thrust of Rawlings.

At the time however, the wind of change was blowing with some under-current! many were they who had grown tired of the Rawlings' era and his ways and desired change! Mills then was portrayed as one who was merely going to allow Rawlings to still hold sway over power and the general sense was just 'enough of Rawlings'. This was when I guess I started becoming more politically aware. I was one of those who gave 'change' a good chance of thought. I had no vote because I didn't qualify to register to vote but the idea of change appealed to me and I never argued against it. Those were the days I got to the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana and that was when the likes of Kofi Apraku Konadu mounted platforms and rattled their versions of American English, claiming to be speaking Economics. And I did not even bother to find out whether they made sense with their Economics-Champions posturing. And a hell of devil was made of the personality of Tony Aidoo then, I remember. How so wrong impressions can be created! So well the elections came and Mills lost in a run-off. I embraced the change. Even traders reduced prices on the market to embrace this change. I saw no wrong. It was all well and good. Fresh Air.

Mills did not fail to concede defeat. And he did it very quickly. Apparently some folks were not happy that he conceded defeat in the elections too quickly and it was said that his reply to them was 'ame dzi me p3 asomdwe' (as for me I'm for peace). Some people made fun of him but this profound statement spurned round and later metamophosed into his nickname: Asomdwehene! (The king of peace).

Mills led his party again to elections while in opposition in 2004 and by this time, haven become aware; haven witnessed enough of the rot of Kufour and his colleagues in power with the added insult to my being that little intelligence came out of the mouth of Kufour and and drawing lessons from even the late Dan Lartey who called for early elections just a few months into Kufour's first term for which reason he was bizarrely and indeed foolishly subjected to security interrogation, I felt very much inside my bone marrow that Kufour and his lot needed to be kicked out of power.

Such a waste of time and space he was save that he marked some change from the Rawlings monopoly over power. Mundane change! That's how I look at it with hindsight. So elections came but this time too I did not qualify to vote because by some bizarre handling of the registration requirements/timetable by Kufour administration I could not complete the cumbersome and retrogressive process (compared to the finer process for the 2000 elections under Rawlings) to qualify me. So again I did not get to vote for Mills this time as I warmed up to him. He lost. But again he did not fail to concede defeat, which action cemented his nickname as Asomdwehene!

I had by this time, with all the nonsensical machinations of Kufour and his Jake Obetsebi and all, come to the firm conclusion that these guys were up to no good. And hence Mills started representing my voice in the body polity of Ghana. Kufour on the other hand did nothing to prove me wrong. He rather worsened the situation with investments into frivolous things like presidential palace and his many trips abroad and he would not even speak intelligently to my senses. Well, I was determined then to vote against Kufour and his party's nominee Nana Akufo Addo. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo: That's another chap I remember for his screams during the 2000 elections when he claimed in dangme 'wa ma cha ke me' (we will change them). Alas by all standards of sanity, Nana Addo was even worse off than Kufour whom I wanted removed in 2004 (after Dan Lartey's call for early elections was ignored). Nana Addo proved to me he just spits out unintelligent stuff. So it was just a matter of course that I made sure I qualified to vote in the 2008 elections and I voted for Mills. Mills won this time around and it was in a run-off.

Nana Akuffo Addo said he won the first round. Pal, that's an idiotic thing to say. The constitution is clear about how anyone can win an election. If Nana Addo won the first round we'd not have had a run-off. Anyway, that's an aside. Lo and Behold it was such testing elections for Ghana's democracy as Nana Addo just was acting crazy with all sorts of machinations. In the end he failed to concede defeat. Instead he rather issued as very insulting statement claiming that he acknowledges the decision of the Electoral Commission and that he congratulates the winner. Pal, it's the people of Ghana who make the decision on who should be their president and not the EC. The EC is only mandated to conduct the elections and announce the results. But this is how Nana Addo chose to insult my being (I'd speak for myself) and yet some folks on his side jump over themselves to even insult me further by claiming that by that statement he conceded defeat to Mills. nonsense is enough a word!

All well and good. I was satisfied that at last I had a sensible person to be president over me! I did not vote for Mills because he made any promise. I can't take any human being's promise seriously. Different circumstances can make the discarding of promises even more imperative than the desire to even remember them let alone that they be forced into implementation. For me President Mills embodied a person who was careful and sound, indeed, very sound with his thought. He demonstrated to me he was not one to be kicked around and he made it clear he did not rush into taking bogus decisions. These qualities are for me very primary before any economic theory or whatever. Any sound minded person who acts in like manner would likely take make sound judgement on issues be they economic or law or whatever based on available facts and for me these are what I seek in any leader. Attah Mills epitomized these in many ways and more. He even had tested knowledge in both law and economics to add.

These qualities Attah Mills exhibited throughout his presidency till I heard he was dead. Let any issue come and his response was just sensibly measured! I recall the case of Cote d' Ivoire and when Nana Addo came out like some zombie calling for Mills to merely follow some Ecowas decision on use of force, Mills response was that among other options he was pursuing he was being guided by the saying 'dzi wo fie asem' (mind your own issues). Such a profound statement. However, this statement which should have made people sit down to think rather got messed up by Mills own Foreign Minister on BBC after some people (including the BBC itself) decided to play mischief by claiming that Mills meant he did not care about Cote d' Ivoire. A very wicked and stupid bastardization of Mills statement there. How can any sensible person tell me that to say one is being guided by something means that person is merely following that thing and nothing else? Alas this was the foolish logic that we were rendered by some folks who I guess suffer head-blocks!

Prez Mills for me would go down in current history as the one who faced arguable the toughest human opposition to his presidency in Ghana; both from within and without his party. Rawlings would not give him much space. I had no problem with that. Mills too said he had no problem with that. Every president is supposed to be subjected to criticism anyway. But it became funny that Rawlings' wife had a grand idea to become president and so the criticisms from Rawlings became suspicious. That suspicion got some unguarded folks on Mills' side to also start making all sorts of rebuttals that were out of place as they twisted many of the stuff Rawlings said too. Mills himself remained calm and never once showed anger at Rawlings hitting hard at him. He remained focused on his job and declared so many times that he was not going to be distracted! Very profound. However, Konadu Rawlings pushed her agenda to be president and so she and Mills went to congress and Mills won by 97%. Classic feat in Ghana's electoral records.

Mills made it clear from the beginning of his term that he was going to seek re-election. I supported him and made ready to vote for him again. But now all that is no more! Mills is gone into the yonder I can only reach also when the time comes for my death which I plan and hope to embrace with a clear conscience and a smiling face.

Mills for me was more than a mere president and I morn him as such as really I don't just give my respect to just any Tom, Dick or Pussy who occupies the presidency! I pick and choose carefully. As for his achievements in office, I believe they are worthy of speaking for themselves in good measure. What he was able to do in 3 years is remarkable and makes one wonder why we allowed Kufour to waste 8 years of Ghana's time.

Pal, I just want to end my tribute here as I realize too many things passing through my head about Mills that I should mention but again I realize I can't mention all.

May he have a peaceful journey!

novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-6903403483554606772012-07-10T23:05:00.001+00:002012-07-11T00:43:52.693+00:00Amidu and the judgement debts

Pal,
I'm getting much closer now to the rot in the judiciary system of Ghana as I've always promised myself to do.

So it came to pass, 'k3k3 ni egbashie k3 ba ho'; and thus the case of Woyome tickled a spiral of talk about 'judgement debt' in Ghana. I wrote about my view on this Woyome matter and I'm waiting for the the outcome from the courts.

But this gentleman called Martin Amidu who was the AG at the time this Woyome saga became news makes for an interesting focus for me even as other cases of 'judgement/settlement debts' keep emerging aside Woyome.

Pal, I've had enough experience of seeing nonsense from people who are hailed for one reason or the other in this world that I'm probably the last person to portray anyone as some champion in one area of human endeavor or another. But what happened? It so happened that Amidu's predecessor AG came under some foolish bashing for losing cases in court (foolish because court cases can be won/lost for any damn reason. little sense). And there was Martin Amidu whose name came up as one who should be occupying the AG's position instead of Betty Mould because he was some champion in criminal cases etc. Lo and behold, Martin was brought in, and after all his coming the trend of govt losing high profile court cases did not stop! So his own party people started agitating for his removal and after several damning newspaper publications about him and after the Woyome issue became news then he decided to also publish some reply to his critics calling them all sorts or names, claiming the attacks on him were from some rented press and that some minister was involved in some gargantuan corruption.

Martin invented a word in Ghana right there: gargantuan! This word that I heard of so many years ago in primary school became some fantasy word in Ghana suddenly. And realizing just how much furore he had generated with that word, Amidu just surely decided to bask in his sudden gargantuan fame with more epistles and interviews in the media on the blind or corrupt side of those who innocently or deliberately failed to see the nonsense he poured! and he did not let a minute pass without repeating his fond 'gargantuan'!

He was sacked for misconduct. And he went mum for a while only to resume talking plenty and claiming he should be dared and he'd reveal stuff. How so foolish! What could be more daring than not a mere sack but a sack with the express statement that it was for misconduct? How many ministers in Ghana's history have been relieved of positions with stated reasons? and such a damning statement for that matter? At this point I felt it was clear to me that this man was just playing to the gallery with nonsense which some were happy with because it served their political interests.

Oh yes! the opposition have made a hefty deal out of the woyome saga and want nothing to spoil their intoxication imagining it as a step to jump to power! So Amidu got good company in them. He's their hero aside the war declaring MP Kennedy Agyapong.

But Amidu can only fool some of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but not me! kai! This man and his effusions stink before my nose! What the hell by the side of heaven? This man, this very day issued another of his statements claiming there's rot at the AG's office! kai! My question to him is what did he do about it for all the while he was there? He sat there and enjoyed his post without complaining to the public about corruption under his desk and suddenly I'm to hail him for saying there's corruption at his former office? Even if I'm some idiot I know that corruption is everywhere in Ghana including the courts and inside the wigs of judges who sit on cases with supervision from a Chief Justice I consider very corrupt in thought at least and with many questions to answer. So what new thing is there for Amidu to tell me about corruption existing anywhere? crap!

In his statement today, Amidu directly challenges his former deputy to come out clear on some issues that he Amidu claims he did not authorize while in office. Good. So that man Barton Oduro must be hauled for questioning. But what is wrong with Amidu? This man Amidu makes a very bogus reference to the origin of Barton Oduro as one who hails from the same place as the president. And so what? In what space did Oduro tell Amidu that he Oduro hails from same place as president and so he Amidu should dig some hole and wee-wee into it? So why does Amidu tell us such a thing? What is it that Amidu has with Oduro that he Amidu cannot just say straight for us all to know check instead of resorting to these childish and indeed bogus innuendos?

Now, the long and short of Amidu's statement today is that he was not privy to some case being discontinued or held in abeyance as AG which is against the law and that he has always insisted that cases of 'debt' should be decided in the courts only else out of court settlement creates untoward PERCEPTIONS about the AG or those involved. ok pal. pause! So the AG must be the Authorizing officer. True! so whoever usurped the powers of the AG must answer. no big deal. but How come Amidu did not even know of this case? How bogus an AG was he then? It appears to me he just gave instructions and went to sit on his butt like some baked mummy without monitoring a damn much! what the hell by heaven! Secondly, what a damn stupid robotic claim to make that just because someone would have some perception of you, then as AG, you'd never pursue an out of court settlement which is lawful? what crap!

This whole attempt by some lawyers in Ghana to create devils out of those who seek out of court settlement merely, especially coming from the side of the opposition, which Amidu too is preaching is nothing but sheer stupidity. They want us to believe it's only through court judgement that money can be saved for the nation. But how can that be when even the mere court processes involve the spending of money? How can any sensible lawyer, being lawyer for the nation, look his client in the face, when defeat in court stares him in the face, and yet like some programmed unthinking robot insist that he'd rather spend more of the tax payer's money pursuing a case that he would never win just to avoid Amidu's kind of imagined 'perception'? What crap! Yet this sort of thing is being preached by lawyers who want to be respected in Ghana! I respect no such lawyer!

Pal, to cap it all, Martin Amidu closes his statement today with the following line and I quote: "The Supreme Courts can never, in making authoritative decisions on the law, cause financial loss to the state." Now, Another CRAP! Indeed, a gargantuan CRAP! Have we not seen too many cases in which crass bogus rulings have been given by the courts out of whatever motivation and which motivation may be due to bribery or familial reasons? Haven't we even had decisions of the courts reversed? What do you call such authoritative decisions on the law which waste time and money?

Pal, whatever disease Martin Amidu is suffering from, he must cure himself quickly. As for those following and hailing him blindly I only pity them. And for those deliberately hailing him because it serves their political biases, I'm ready to take them on for us to see who gets to swallow his words back,

We need sanity in the system.

Pal,
at this juncture, if you can't stand hard-hitting debate then don't read. You have been warned.

So when am I going to write about the particular rot of the Ghana's judiciary as I promised myself? I'd leave you to answer this for me.

Meanwhile the angling for the post of presidency of Ghana come election 2012 has taken some fashioned Q&A turn as done by the bogus IEA institution that deserves no respect in the body polity of Ghana until they answer to their gross misdeeds and bias for the NPP. Meanwhile, the ruling NDC party says it's candidates (the current prez and vice) would not partake. ask me and I'd tell you 'no big deal'. it's not 'by-force'. and the IEA is a misbehaving institution anyway!

But be it as you may like or dislike, today the CPP presidential candidate was given the IEA platform to talk-shop and take and answer some questions. I intend to present to you my sum analysis of his performance and I hope to do same for all the others who'd present themselves on this platform no matter that it's staged by the bogus IEA that gets no respect from me.

So Dr. Abu Sakara mounted the stage and first talked plenty aplenty! about this, about that and focusing mainly on his specialized area agric. Pal, Agric is ok but me I'm not one taken in by all the loose talk about higher yields and fertilizer while little is said about maintaining quality of nature (you can say I mean organic farming!). Enough of the poisoning chemicals in the form of fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides...

For me, of all he said in his initial presentation, the only significant policy direction Dr. Sakara put out was his call that Ghanaians with dual citizenship should be allowed to hold public positions since there's the need for skills and not just money for the economy. That is brilliant talk. simply, BRILLIANT! But the rest of all he said were really like jazzzz bla bla bla. The presentation ended and then followed Q&A.

So some questions were asked. Among them was this one from some guy about how Sakara would ensure reliable data on employment so that his minister would not come mentioning some 2million figure which would be left for political talk or game! wait pal, when people say this sort of thing about politics I have a feeling they suffer from indigestion. How can it ever be that you'd have some data about the body polity of Ghana and yet that would not or could not be used for political talk? What do they understand by politics at all? But well that was the bogus question asked by some gentleman whose name I don't remember. And the answer? Bla bla bla... as if to just say something to occupy the space.

As usual some woman came asking for special favours for women! And what answer would you expect? the usual women are these champions or that powerful and so deserving of special treatments. ok. there were some hoooohaa questions to fill the space. someone even asked about Sakara's view on the new single spine salary structure and Sakara started answering by telling us that he does not know why the name 'single spine'! and why not 'double spine or ...' how so sad a case for one wanting to be president! why such a jest and bogus comment that only belittles the situation? was that some joke or what? bad!

For me the most sensible question asked came from one gentleman who called himself Steve Manteaw (something like that). He said to Dr. Sakara that the current govt had said it accepts from the Constitutional Review Commission that there should be some sort of 'national policy' to guide successive govts but no administration or president should be bound by that policy. A fair point to make, given that this is after all a governance system sifted from the contest of ideas, priorities etc and changing time may dictate focus on some particular needs anyway, whether planned for or not! But this brilliant question got the most bogus and bizarre answer. Sakara claimed govt position was 'unfortunate' and his justification for that claim is that ideological differences must not matter anymore! Who told Dr. Abu Sakara that only ideologies could cause shift in policy direction? Clearly Dr. Abu the Sakara did not appreciate the position of govt properly before talking-shop on this matter. bizarre verbosity is an understatement!

Pal, to bring this to a long close, Abu Sakara the Dr., I'd say performed far better when he mounted a similar platform by this same bogus IEA as the vice presidential candidate of Paa or Papa Kwesi Nduom (the concert man) of the CPP for the 2008 elections. And I remember I wrote about Sakara then that to me he was an example of who should be president. I still largely hold that view (compared to the misbehaving 'all die be die' bigot called Nana Akuffo Addo), but its limited to his personality as in his mannerism, etc. I have issues with some of his ideas. Serious issues! He does not even hold onto the philosophy of the CPP which is socialism properly. He sounds like he wants to please some people with his particular claim that ideologies do not matter. I have personally said ideologies do not matter in some respects but it's not in all stuff. Sakara cannot tell us ideologies do not matter and hence presidents or govts should be bound by some static so called 'national policy' formulated by some people at some particular point in time which may not respond to needs of another time.

Pal, like they say (and don't ask me who are the they) Dr. Abu Sakara must come again!
novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-85954522108495137392012-05-26T20:04:00.002+00:002012-05-27T00:21:31.066+00:00#Justice4Novisi

Pal,
This is war against injustice!
I had planned to post more about the nonsensical nature of Ghana's judiciary and law in general but some circumstances have tickled and driven me on a tangent to seek #justice4novisi on twitter.

I'd return to the subject of the nonsensical character of the judiciary in Ghana hopefully soon.

Meanwhile pal, I'm one who is ready to take my own mother on and debate her on any issue (and she knows it). I'm not one blinded by relations or associations. If you are my whatever and you play the mess I'd point it out to you.

so what happened? I took to twitter in my lazy-Saturday mode (as usual) while listening to political talk shows on radio. <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa tweeted asking to know if anyone was listening to joyfm's newsfile and that there was some passion (whatever she meant particularly I don't know) and I replied I was and pointed out that NPP's Nana Addo's communication director Nana Akomea just lied that prez Mills got land from govt as govt appointee. Such a blatant lie which should be condemned by any sane minded person. Yet this was Abena's reply to me "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid What about the other govt functionaries that benefited from the programme? You refuse to see that the value is the same"

She did not hail the lie as truth and neither did she condemn it. But in Twe-de-ampon's name, Abena could have been fair to say she wasn't interested in the lie and that we should rather talk about her 'others' and I'd have welcomed that diversion wholeheartedly. Alas Abena without any basis decided to accuse me of refusing to see what she calls 'value is the same'! so Hail Abena, full of 'same value'! which value too she does not tell what she means.

This was all about the discussion on joyfm on NPP Chairman Jake O. L's loot of govt property in the name of the law. So well I insisted that the lie must be pointed out. And Abena replied "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid So did he LIE about the other beneficiaries of this land chop chop scheme?". In the name of Twe-de-ampon again, whether Akomea lied about the rest or not, does that change anything about the particular lie Akomea told about the prez? Answer is NO. I replied that I pointed out a particular lie and that I did not talk about 'others'. Abena said 'okay'. but next tweeted to ask: "So has this land scheme CONTINUED since the change in govt in Jan 2009???These are the kind of blinders I'm talking about. ..."

What blinders in the name of 'value is the same'? Christo! But before I could even answer she continued: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid Novisi, at some point you have to remove the blinders when it comes to one particular party over the other." funny one this! First why at 'some point' and not 'all points'? if blinders are not good then they should be removed at all points and not only at 'some point'. In any case let me tell prove I have some blinders blocking my sight before being said to have that. So I made a demand for us to define what this whole charge of blindness is: I said: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa Then we have to define the blindness. I say it's a lie that Mills got land as govt appointee. is that being blind?" And yet Abena who knows about blindness refused to confirm whether stating that lie constitutes blindness. She just did not answer. Why? Could Abena not answer this simple question after professing to know about blinders? I believe she could. But she didn't and the question is why?

Yet Abena went on further to accuse me of cherry picking saying "Cherry picking...you hear some things and have issues with them but ignore others.." Very interesting. now it's NOT 'REFUSE' but 'IGNORE'. Yet here was Abena who was quick to tweet amidst it all: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid Oh and another thing Novisi, the constant shifting of goal posts to move away from the substantive issues & onto semantics". I was being said to be shifting posts to semantics and yet here was Abena moving from 'REFUSE TO SEE' to 'IGNORE OTHERS'. Ebeiii. Many accusations flying there at me but Abena who accused me of 'cherry picking' failed totally to tell a single issue which I had ignored or refused to see. Pal, BIZARRE is an understatement at this point. What we have is sheer recklessness in the name of 'value is the same' by whatever motivation on the part of Abena.

And this recklessness is emphasized in a subsequent sweet tongue-in-cheek tweet: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid Of course...Nana Akomea's "lie" is the substantive issue of course.." after I stated my hope that the NDC's George Nartey would expose the lie. So I replied to Abena thus "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa No. it's not the substantive issue. It's just a needless and poisoning lie to fudge the issues.". Why? If you want us to discuss substantive issue you must make that known. You don't make it look as if me pointing out some particular issue means I'm saying that is the substantive issue. I'm not an idiot to do that. At least it's just fair and respectful so. And guess what next. Abena had this to say: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid Well I hope he tackles the "lie" that the VP benefited from this scheme". My badness. forget the fact that Abena at this point did not accuse herself of refusing to see 'others' but the VP. My goodness, I did not say it's a lie that the VP benefited. I don't know who told Abena that it's a lie that the VP benefited but she chose to say that. The lie I pointed to was about prez Mills and not the VP which Abena failed to comment on. Anyway, I told her it was not a lie that the VP benefited. and yet even this response to her "lie" did not make her reply to say I was right or wrong. And yet I still stood accused by Abena full of 'same value'. eiiiii Yesu Christo!

Well lo and behold in came @kayodei who asked whether this whole purchase was illegal and Abena replied to say she'd leave that to me to deal with and that she had to head out and that I was the expert! Interesting times beckoned me. So I watched and there came in Nana Yaw Sarpong (Abena's partner in crime) with some question to us: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa why not pass a regulation that prohibits sale of state houses and lands after occupation?". good question. no problem. But before I could even wrap my brains around this question Abena who claimed she was heading out made a U-turn and came back saying "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong That is what I've been trying to ask <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid since such acquisitions are still going on." CHAOS! HORRIBLE CHAOS!! How could it be that all those baseless accusations leveled against me were all means by which Abena was 'trying' to ask me this same question from @osarpong? Then what would have happened if she wasn't 'trying'? In any case didn't I reply Abena when she asked and I repeat: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid So has this land scheme CONTINUED since the change in govt in Jan 2009???These are the kind of blinders I'm talking about. ..." Didn't I tell her the scheme had continued and added that the court case however was not about having the scheme declared as bad? And did she acknowledge this response? answer is NO. So what 'trying' is Abena who has eyes to see blinders talking about?

But more was to follow apparently from @osarpong while I turned my attention elsewhere. In response to Abena's bizarre and CHAOTIC claim of 'trying' @sarpong tweeted: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa oh he's interested in Kufour and Jake <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisidnothing else lol.". This is a sad-laughing matter from @osarpong. You tell such a lie about your fellow human and laugh lol! I would even laugh myself kwakwakwa at the foolish lie but such a lie should not be told of any human being. It's dehumanizing to say the least. If for nothing at all I responded to the case of the VP. If for nothing at all I responded to the case of whether or not the scheme had continued under the new administration. So why tell such a foolish lie about a human being for us to laugh lol and kwakwakwa? O! Nyame ba Yesu!

Well, I'm not one who runs away from issues so I pursued them to substantiate their claims. I asked Abena to tell me why she accused me of cherry picking and her answer was the question "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong Why do you think I accused you of cherry picking?". eiiiiii Well I did not give up and pursued them still. And the same Abena who suggested I was shifting goal posts to semantics tweeted: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid I'm tired of the selectivity of ALL sides...." clearly moving away from the specific accusation on my person to 'ALL SIDES'. Abena for Christo's sake I didn't ask you about 'ALL SIDES' but about 'my side'. So I said "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong You'd have to point out what is SELECTIVITY. you are sweeping the issues. there are differences." and Abena's response to that was "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong If there are "differences" as you say then there will always be selectivity..." at this point I noticed the discussion shifting into theory and a bit away from the specific accusation on my person but I wanted to follow to see what would happen. So I responded thus "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>abena_serwaa <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong Then selectivity is not bad. and really selectivity is not necessarily bad. that's why not good to sweep issues."

And I thought Abena would admit these facts so I could pin herfurther to prove her case against me or confess her falsehood but hey! I was wrong! Abena rather found that an escape route for the fastest run that even Usain Bolt would dred. And this is how she waved me goodbye: "<s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>novisid <s style="text-decoration: none;">@</s>osarpong Novisi, I totally do not understand your tweet or its logic so alas I must end here."

Wow! Pal, even a class 5 pupil should understand that tweet. That tweet is in English language and not Greek or some strange language for Abena. That tweet clearly dissects selectivity and states a basic fact that not all selectivity is bad as Abena was otherwise loosely portraying to the detriment of logic. But Abena who has eyes to see me blind says she 'TOTALLY' does not understand that tweet and runs away leaving behind her falsehood. What can I say? I can't force her to understand even a fraction of it. But I'd demand #justice4novisi in this matter as clearly these two individuals Nana Yaw Sarpong and Abena have gone on a reckless charging spree accusing me of things they themselves have failed to prove.

Pal, you see, I've laid this out because these are people like me who sit wherever they find themselves or stand and pontificate about real or percieved wrongs about so called politicians and make themselves look as if they are different from politicians. Yet this interaction I've laid out here points out how bogus these same individuals would be in their utterances if not in their actions too if you were to make them occupy the positions of the politicians.
Pal, I'm seeking #justice4novisi now and right now and i'd be trying (not Abena's kind of trying) to post all the tweets concerning this matter on twitter with the tag #justice4novisi. It may seem a funny or hilarious or sad or even stupid project but some little things do matter for the records.
Pal, the man Ndoum who wants to be president of Ghana is such a man I consider azaaa in cheap digits!

The last time he said children should not be made to take part in independence parade because it's punishment to them. What to do with such a mentality!

this man has come out with another bizarre claim. he says we should abolish party polling agents observing voting but we can have them monitor the counting of votes. yooooo! and he insists that that is best practice all over the world and that it's these party agents who cause trouble at the polling stations and so we must move away from this scheme to improve on our democracy by trusting the personnel of the EC and that to him means 'strengthening institutions' (something I think many people say without sense).

Trust me if you don't trust yourself like I don't trust myself. This man is weird!

Institutions and men and women:
Pal, in the name of Christo! institutions are made up of men and women! that is point number one. This man Ndoum does not understand that strengthening of institutions cannot mean we must act aloof and assume (when assumption is the ladder that broke the climbers back) that the EC personnel are saints or automatically unbiased or incorruptible to do a good job for us all. Ndoum does not get it that we must all guard against the untoward happenings.

Transparency:
Ndoum by his proposal is working against a key component of democracy which is transparency! Party polling agents ensure that persons who vote and the process they go through are observed in an open manner and this builds more confidence in the outcome than otherwise. This helps to ensure no bias EC official for example would allow any minor to vote in violation of the regulation. Ndoum does not get this! he thinks the EC officials must be assumed to be good boys and girls who would do nothing bad.

Best practice indeed!
Ndoum says absence of party polling agents during voting is best practice! I say best practice indeed!
That it's some norm does not make it best practice! who told Ndoum it's best practice? what research did he make and what findings did he get to come to that conclusion? This Ndoum man just gets up and decides to label some lack a best practice. How so foul he has rendered the air!
I'm not one of those who accept that Ghana's democracy is young and so we should accept some things as they are for now. I believe that if Ghana wants to have a democracy then Ghana must do everything it takes to implement processes that are sustainable. In that vain, Ghanaians must count themselves rather right up there with a system as the party polling agents that ensures transparency. If America had this system then perhaps the Florida fraud would have been prevented. Even this year we have had reports where the GOP primaries have been saddled with some ghosts voting. Such a case could have been prevented if Ghana sold this idea to Americans.

Trouble at polling stations:
Ndoum the Dr. argues that it's party polling agents who cause the problems at polling stations. However pal, this is far from the truth. Most of the reported cases of mayhem at polling stations are ones caused by organized hooligans who roam from polling station to polling station and in many situations it is polling agents who have been victims of such hooligans. So Papa or Paa Kwasi Ndoum must get his facts or observation right.

Ndoum's economic political trick:
according to some damn spinners who are quick to look at issues bottom-first, Ndoum might just be visiting on us a trick of his to have his way since he may not be willing to pay agents to do this job for him or that he does not even have the money to pay. If true then someone should tell him that it's not by force. many have stood for elections without agents at polling stations. So if Ndoum cannot afford it does not mean he should let others miss out on this opportunity by making this very very diluted-akpeteshie-facilitated delusion.

Applicable in the future:
Pal, some who are confused or who perhaps want to massage Ndoum instead of telling him straight in the face that his proposal is nothing more than a foul flatulence have said that Ghana's democracy is young and so this bogus proposal would be applicable in the future (when we have angels, I guess) but not now! Even more bizarre! The fundamental point is that there'd never come the time when we'd have saints or incorruptible people at the EC and society being what it is we should rather strengthen the position of party polling agents and build their capacity to work in collaboration and harmony with the EC officials instead of pretending there'd ever be the need to abolish them and so Ndoum is somehow right! Pal, the man Paa or Papa Kwasi Ndoum is dead wrong and he must be told so in the face: his flatulence smells bad! kai kai kai!

PROPAGANDA:
1. "You can't manage economy with propaganda ... if the macroeconomic fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you.”?

1a) This is a bizarre pedestrian comment from one we are told is a technocrat. On the contrary, any Economy anywhere can be managed with propaganda and indeed govt's all over the world use propaganda in their management. propaganda is a complimentary effort for whatever any govt does or chooses to do. So this cursory statement from the said technocrat is without substance and misleading. Dr. Bawumia might consider checking what he understands by propaganda against what exactly that word means.

1b) The exchange rate is not the only economic indicator. and different factors account for the different economic indicators. So what's the noise about 'exchange rate' about? or did Bawumiah hear govt saying anywhere that every single economic indicator is good? if govt has not said every single economic indicator is doing well then what's the point of making noise about fall in exchange rate as if that alone negates all the other indices? AND WHY WON'T BAWUMIA DARE TELL US THE PERCENTAGE FALL OF THE CEDI FROM THE TIME OF HIS REDENOMINATION TO THE TIME KUFOUR WENT OUT OF OFFICE IN 2008 AND WHAT ACCOUNTED FOR IT?

THE GRAPH
2. The graph: What was that about? A magic trick for kids? Which economic theory says that exchange rate must never increase when inflation is low or lowering? which economic theory says that exchange rate is always influenced by inflation and or gdp? Again, what was that grapth about? who can't look at data from the Statistical Service and point at it?

4. FOREIGN EXCHANGE SPECULATION:
Where was Bawumia when during the Kufour era Forex Bureaus were told not to display their rates outside their halls because of speculation affecting the rates and this was enforced?

3. PRICES OF GOODS:
4a) Can Bawumia tell us how muct it cost Ghana under Kufour to do the re-denomination of the cedi which we don't know up to today?

4b) Can Bawumia tell us where the value of the old 50 cedis is and the impact the vanishing of that value has been on prices?

4c) Can Bawumia tell us how come even after redenomination even 5p coins were not accepted by the market folks and hence the increase in goods and services by leaps of 10p? can he quantify what all these lose means for price increases?

ALTERNATIVE MANAGEMENT PROPOSAL:
5. What alternative management strategy did he propose? None. Just mere talk of promising 'dynamic management'. what is that?
else that

I encourage you to insult me if you think I deserve it because I'd not hesitate to insult you if I think you deserve it.

Now, the govt of Ghana we are told has decided to reverse it's decision to boycott the media house called Multimedia. okay! no problem! you can help yourself and read the details about the boycott elsewhere.

my issue is with some noise makers who just jump about and make noise about something being legal or illegal. yes many have they been who have stretched their necks like giraffes without caution and pretended to be constitutional lawyers cum judges telling us that govt boycotting Multimedia is unconstitutional and hence illegal etc! such hogwash!

ask me and I'd tell you it's just bizarre! simple as that.
Pal, Yes and a big yes! the 1992 constitution of Ghana establishes press freedom and mandates the press to hold govt accountable and also dictates that no press house should be subject to control or interference etc.

But for Somkpor's sake! does that mean govt must not have the right to decide which media house to channel information through or speak to or allow to cover govt events? which part of the constitution equates the boycott by govt to control or interference, etc? which part of the constitution?

and one of the most absurd things I've heard is that Multimedia pays taxes and so it is not correct to boycott them. how so cheap! where in the constitution or any legal document is it stated that govt must 'by-force' do business with any media house or other organization else that organization should not pay tax?

Again, for the sake of sensitive Dorlor! private schools in Ghana pay taxes to govt but unless govt wishes to provide any one of them with teachers trained with the taxpayers' money govt does not serve them with such! is that unconstitutional? if not then where lies the unconstitutionality of govt deciding to boycott some private media house called Multimedia?

Please, I'm a die hard defender of freedom of speech! I believe I must have the freedom to tell you you are a fool if I find it so fitting. I believe I must have the freedom to call you by any name under and above the sun once I so wish.
Gad-damit...!!!
I believe that even racists, acting in their private capacities must be granted the freedom to advocate for their primitive racism without any hindrance to their right to speech. So I understand that the media is important and must strive so that even the primitive message of racists must be carried. But I'm not a fool to say that just because there must be freedom of speech or freedom of the press it means that govt must not have the right to choose which media house to deal with.

Pal, Greetings to your parents!novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-63373564988302942102012-03-21T14:55:00.004+00:002012-03-21T16:36:17.943+00:00International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination:Pal,
There's a genuine case to be made against discrimination in general.
Discrimination, whether on the basis of economic, geographic or sexual attributes can be really bad.

However, discrimination on some level is really nobody's business, no matter how so undesirable. And just so I don't bore you with plenty talk, just read the illustration below and see the whole of the point I'm seeking to make:

A blackman drives on the streets of NY and has an inscription on his black car: 'blacks only'. And down-town in Accra, Ghana, a whiteman drives in his white car with the inscription: 'whites only'.

So Pal, inasmuch as discrimination and for that matter racial discrimination is not desired, it cannot be right to forcefully prevent a private person from preventing people of any one race from having access to his/her private property. The best you can do in such cases is to plead for respect.

indeed, it must be abundantly clear that the mere desire to want to eliminate racial discrimination must not be misconstrued for actions aimed at criminalizing the rights of individuals to voice out their disgust for any one race. A whiteman must be free to call a blackman monkey if he so wishes to be that primitive and a blackman must have the freedom to call the whiteman cheese! That is undesired but that is mutual respect.

have a happy International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-70572729611664766792012-03-03T15:01:00.002+00:002012-03-03T18:11:30.369+00:00much ado about insults (aka politics of insults in Ghana)Pal,
down town the old coast of gold now called Ghana is this noise! just noise!

when the forces wake you up in the morning and you are fortunate or cursed enough to hear people talk on radio; if you don't have a a strong head, you'd either have a break in your spine or get arrested by convulsion! either way you are doomed!

aha! that is how exaggerated the talk is on radio in Ghana.

Yet amid the noise is this shrill cry of anti-insults they call 'politics of insults'; whatever that means pal, I wonder if the apostles of this anti-movement understand themselves when they say this phrase! funny thing? many of the people crying against insults are some of those who have been at the forefront unleashing barrages of insults unto others. but the obvious hypocrisy is not my issue now! another time, maybe!

So what is an insult, Pal? do these noise makers know what an insult is?

Insults are a part of society as the air we breathe. Insults can never be eradicated and they'd never be. Insults have served society well in many forms such as in music, poetry, chants, appellations, prayer, etc. Indeed, you'd find, pal, that in many societies there are records of institutionalized insults, where communities get together to expose the misdeeds of others by pointing out those misdeeds as raw as they come or through veiled or subtle means depending on the tolerance levels in the communities.

Among the Ewe people for example from whom I originate, they have halo songs in their traditions that are meant to be sang to cast out nonsense from individuals. Then among the Ga, and this is something we were taught in school from govt funded textbooks on culture studies, exist a well organized institutionalized insult ceremonies held by the people of La called something like La-kpashimo so.

Aside these facts is the non-contestable fact that insult really is what anyone chooses to be demeaning to him/herself. Pal, I'd not give a whimper if you just brush by me and claim I'm a fool. I can't be a fool just because you say so. So such and act from you would not be considered an insult to me one bit. Rather I'd ask you to show how I qualify to be called a fool and failure of which I'd point out to you how you are rather the fool. Pal, what I consider an insult to me is when some leader or president misuses the tax I pay and turns around to look me in the face and talk rubbish.

So I don't know what is insulting to you. But let's face it. If I see a murderer you'd not expect me to call such a person a saint would you? So if I see a thief I should be able to point that out without beating about the bush!

Pal, let me just wind up: It's a useless and illogical fight for anyone to claim to be against insult or calling for an end to insults.

I wish you a head (not heart. that pumps blood) full of tolerance so you can pause and reflect and make sense of situations instead of jumping up and making noise like they are doing with the so called arab spring.novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562766231881590428.post-49982450197173271432012-02-21T10:09:00.002+00:002012-02-21T10:12:39.273+00:00my deathday wishso death would come and

I would die a poet!
I the lover you hate
in equal measure or worse.

but doNOT
do these in remembrance of me:

do not freeze my dead body like cow meat
to keep from rotting
or mummify it like koobi
put on exhibition at Mallam Atta;
keeping wake and crying …agyeii…agyeii…
soaking it in your polluted tears and
peddling deceptions I’m an example
in the good books as told of the prophets BC
and you get away with it
because I would not be there in breath to say
you have not spoken the truth.
No…

give this to earth before sunset,
without delay;
without any fancy coffin or epitaphic tombstone.
Otherwise, burn it all:
the flesh and the bones to ashes;
throw to the wind or sprinkle upon the sea.

light a bonfire and
live your life;
sit around with cups of coffee and share my poems;
my tributes to you the living and

I the lover you hate with passion!
I would be gone, ferried in the whirlwind;

---

Wednesday February 1, 2012.
The day it was reported Wislawa Syzmborska died.novisihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06144548155567055364noreply@blogger.com5
